The Role

AGCS seeks to appoint a new Global Head of Financial Lines. The role directly reports into the Chief Underwriting Officer Corporate and Member of the Board of Management. Within this role, you will have responsibility for the P&L, developing and executing the global strategy for the Financial Lines business.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Ownership of the Global P&L for Financial Lines including North America
  • Direct Management of large Global Team and Matrix Management of Regional Teams and Pricing Actuarial
  • Develop, define, and execute the global strategy to drive profitable growth and a leading market position for the Financial Lines business. 
  • Provide strong leadership to the global Financial Lines underwriting teams with a focus on culture, D&I, Learning and Development
  • Steer and control the portfolio globally to meet financial targets through the cycle.
  • Develop and implement a consistent underwriting approach globally including guidelines, authorities, business reviews on annual basis to ensure appropriate governance
  • Work closely with the Financial Lines Pricing Actuarial Team to ensure appropriate technical pricing tools, segmentation analysis and profitability reviews are performed
  • Engage and collaborate with key stakeholders such with claims, actuarial, finance, operations, risk consulting and product governance
  • Manage costs appropriately through the P&L including acquisition cost.
  • Focus on retention, training and attraction of top Financial Lines Talent
  • Work closely with reinsurance department and brokers on all key reinsurance placements for Financial Lines
  • Drive the development and implementation of new technologies, pricing tools, data analytics and predictive modelling to enhance underwriting and service solutions.
  • Develop data driven underwriting strategy: Leveraging 3rd party data and Insurtech.
  • Work with communications and marketing on thought leadership, event management and marketing of capabilities.
  • Manage key MGA relationships
  • Ensure organizational structure and processes are designed to best serve external and internal customers.
  • Identify market opportunities, including potential markets, target segments and clients, in liaison with regional colleagues and other Allianz companies.
  • Proactively drive the development and implementation of new and modified products.
  • Support the improvement of NPS, acquisition of new business and retention of existing business in partnership with Global Distribution.
  • Based on the global remit of this role, the Global Head of Financial Lines is expected to travel regularly across the relevant locations and regions.

 

Background and Experience

  • Extensive experience in underwriting Financial Lines business ideally in multiple regions
  • Experience in D&O, PI, and Financial Institutions
  • Strong Communication Skills
  • Experiencing in both growing and remediating portfolios
  • Expert knowledge of major international markets, ideally including UK or US and strong network of broker and client relationships
  • Sound knowledge of pricing tools, profitability studies and the pricing actuarial function
  • Exposure to reinsurance
  • Sound knowledge and experience of portfolio management and Financial Lines reserving practices.
  • Successful track record of leading and developing global teams across numerous locations.
  • Experience of leading change in various business scenarios.
  • Strong leadership skills, with both direct and matrix reports leadership
  • Fluency in English with additional languages a plus
