Role Description - Commercial Motor Portfolio Manager

We are pleased to offer an exciting opportunity to join the Allianz Commercial Motor Team as a Commercial Motor Portfolio Manager, reporting to the Head of Motor. The Commercial Motor portfolio is one of the largest lines of business in Allianz UK making it integral to the continued success of Allianz Commercial.  In this role you will support the delivery of growth and profitability in line with the portfolio objectives. This role requires strong collaboration across the business and industry to deliver our customers product value. In this role your responsibilities will include product development, underwriter development, thought leadership as well as supporting our regional offices.

The role provides an exciting opportunity to work alongside the Portfolio Steering Team to shape the go-forward framework for portfolio monitoring and steering within Allianz Commercial, through the utilisation of latest tooling, developing improved segmentation and optimising the use of pricing data assets.

As a Portfolio Manager you will support the development of superior technical underwriting and analytical skills. You will be able to develop and apply appropriate risk management offerings and techniques. Your role will help maintain and improve underwriting standards. You will ensure that appropriate targets, objectives and development plans to support the accounts aspirations to grow profitably.

 

About You

To be a success in this role, you will have a strong commercial background as well as the following:

  • Outstanding Commercial Motor technical underwriting ability
  • In depth knowledge of the Commercial Motor market
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Proven account management skills
  • Strong negotiating/influencing skills
  • Engaging and confident communication skills
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Excellent numerical and analytical ability

We are looking for somebody with:

  • Experience of Underwriting Motor Fleet business
  • Experience of working within a general insurer environment with responsibility for top and bottom line performance of a portfolio or suite of portfolios
  • Supervisory/management/team leadership experience
  • Strong record of delivery against challenging objectives
  • Proven ability to understand key underwriting concepts and principles
  • Professional qualified such as ACII or equivalent would be preferable
