An exciting opportunity has become available for an Assistant Underwriter to join the Motor Trade Centre of Excellence within the South Region of Allianz Insurance PLC.

The location for this role is based in either our Southampton or Maidstone Branch c. 2 days per week in line with our new hybrid working model.

You will become a key part of the team, working closely alongside experienced underwriters in a culture that is passionate about developing you.

 

The role:

The purpose of this role is to contribute towards delivery of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) through the underwriting of our Motor Trade products in the market, whilst maintaining technically excellent underwriting standards and building up relationships with both internal and external customers.

As an Assistant Underwriter you will handle cases, upholding underwriting authority at all times and delivering excellent service to our customers.

You’ll play an active role in developing the Motor Trade account in terms of growth and profitability through negotiating and retaining profitable existing business; a key part of this is broker visibility by way of visits and supporting aligned Business Developers.

You will also be accountable for engaging fully in the cross sell culture across the South Region; ensuring close collaboration with your colleagues in other departments will be essential to support our ambitious growth plans.

Skills & Experience:  

 You will be able to demonstrate:

  • Good verbal, written communication and numerical reasoning skills.
  • A sound understanding of the UK general insurance market is desirable.
  • Past experience of working within a Broker or within the Commercial and/or Engineering insurance sector is desirable.
  • Practical knowledge of MS Office and MS Outlook.
  • GCSE Maths and English or relevant equivalent experience.
  • Ability to multi task at pace and the ability to work hard on own initiative and be achievement oriented.
  • Ability to organise own workload to meet tight deadlines and support the team in delivering excellent service levels.
  • A strong team player: supportive to others with an enthusiastic and positive attitude.
  • Attention to detail and good analytical skills.
  • Resilient and adaptable to change.
