We are looking for a Financial Lines Claims Manager. This opportunity will be based in our Chicago, IL, or New York, NY office.
The Impact You Will Have :
Reporting to the Head of Financial Lines & Cyber – North America, you will join the team as a Financial Lines Claims Manager, who will:

Lead and manage Financial Line Claims team claims team handling Public D&O, Private D&O, and FI E&O claims..

Ensure claims handled within authority limits, and in line with AzC Claims Standards procedures and guidelines.

Utilize third party service providers to achieve economical results and to provide a high-quality service to all internal and external customers.

Develop and maintain strong relationships with brokers and clients.
Some of your specific responsibilities could include:

Managing a team of focusing on Financial Lines claims, specifically D&O and FI E&O including: training and mentoring of staff, managing technical referrals, and delegating work as appropriate

Investigation and Reserving of Claims and Claims Resolution
- Assist in investigation of claims, including coverage determination and evaluation of loss exposures and determine appropriate reserving levels
- Work with team members to resolve complex D&O and FI claims
- Select and direct independent external service providers (e.g. Loss Adjusters); and
- Proactively discuss and review contentious, large and complex claims with fellow management and internal stakeholders to obtain opinions/feedback.

Manage Information and Communicate with Underwriting and Actuarial Department
- Manage timely production of management information reports (e.g. monthly major claims movements) and proactively identify loss trends.

Referrals and Compliance
- Ensure all claims handled within authority limits, and in line with AGCS Claims Standards procedures and guidelines.
- Refer cases outside of authority level, preparing referral documentation and materials as appropriate.
- Support establishment of claims management procedures on new business accounts in association with clients, brokers and loss adjusters
- Undertake audits of external service providers as appropriate.

Market and Relationship Management
- Proactively support the acquisition of new business and retention of existing business (including client and broker negotiations where necessary).
- Positively represent AGCS externally to the market.
- Proactively drive involvement of functional areas in Claims handling process, e.g., Underwriting, Distribution, ARC, Operations.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key brokers and clients and other relevant stakeholders.
What You’ll Bring to the Role

5-7 years’ of proven experience handling Financial Lines claims involving complex coverage and damage issues.

5-7 yers’ of specialized understanding of regional/local LoB insurance markets and competitor landscape

Managing people: Ability to lead and manage a team of claim handlers, responsible for D&O and FI E&O claims. Includes the ability to delegate tasks, steer team direction/goals, etc.

Prior management experience a plus but not required.

Preferably a Juris Doctor (JD)

5-7 years’ experience in in-depth understanding of Claims Handling requirements as per internal and regulatory guidelines from notification to settlement.

Product and Coverages: Detailed understanding of Public D&O, Private D&O, and FI E&O claims products, wordings, terms and conditions and coverages

Recognized relationship building with brokers at peer group level and well established within local market.

Writing Skills: Ability to effectively communicate in writing, including letters and email communications

Negotiation savvy: Ability to negotiate resolution with claimants and/or their lawyers

Analytical Skills: Ability to effectively absorb information from various sources, then analyze, study or examine data in detail, and draw appropriate conclusions (e.g., CII)

IT Skills: Use general office application tools, e.g. Outlook, Excel, Word, Power Point

Communication & Presentation: Ability to express ideas and messages clearly, both written and verbally. Ability to "sell" claim service abilities as a marketing tool.
The annualized base pay range for this role is $113,663 to $224,550. The annual base salary range represents a nationwide market range. The actual salary for this position may be above and will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role, the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate. The base pay is just one component of the AzC total compensation package. As part of our comprehensive compensation and highly rated benefits programs, employees are also eligible for annual performance-based cash incentive awards.
