Software Asset Manager

A software licensing analyst establishes processes for enhancing software licensing. Responsibilities include analysing purchased licenses, reviewing discovery data, processing and maintaining software, conducting research to assist with purchases and contract requirements, and offering end-user functional support. You will also verify usage, advise purchases based on needs, and provide project delivery after meeting requirements. You will be responsible to optimize software, identify and address issues, analyse usage, advise management, and prepare all relevant process and reporting documentation
You will
- Determine licensing requirements for SW and analyze vendor licensing terms
- Document licensing data (in-/outflows), e.g. historic license data, new purchases
- Determine commercial SW license inventory
- Organize technical data collection, collect and document usage data
- Assure quality of inventory data
- Generate transparent reporting on consumption per OE/branch, per Service Owner, per SW provider
- Compile license balance; map commercial and technical inventories based on license metrics
- Analyze license balance, determine current licensing situation, identify licensing deviations (under-/over-licensing)
- Perform software compliance management reporting
- Support rectification of licensing deviations
- Check pool for unused licenses of SW
- Support SAM control and governance evolvement
- Support risk or SW compliance assessments
Your skills
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related equivalent IT field preferred (new graduate are welcome)
- Must be aware of vendor licensing rules like Microsoft, Adobe, Oracle, IBM etc
- Experience in setting up the software asset management function, processes, tools set up
- Experience with license management tools like Service Now is essential
- Understanding of licensing models and software delivery models
- 5+ years of experience in software license management
- Working experience in implementing Software asset management process, tools and governance
- Experience in using ServiceNow asset management module
- Experience in configuration management, asset life-cycle management, process improvement and compliance
- Working knowledge of the fundamental concepts and procedures used in a purchasing and asset management environment
- Working knowledge of software licensing and understanding of contract language
- Working knowledge of reconciling software licensing and software maintenance terms and conditions between procured rights and quantities with compliant deployment of software assets.
- Working knowledge of the procurement life-cycle and best practices
- Strong problem-solving with excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong data analysis and manipulation skills including strong MS Excel
- Working knowledge of current IT technologies and full understanding of industry practices
- Self-motivated, tenacious with ability to work independently
- Ability to manage time and workload effectively which includes planning, organizing, and prioritizing with attention to detail Desirable Skills Proven experience and ability to calculate vendor licensing models, familiarity of ‘Tier 1’ vendor license models
- Experience with Software Asset Management tool Service Now
- Strong communication skills, interpersonal, oral, and written in English
