Nice to know

This position will mainly act as the actuarial technical lead in the IFRS 17 reporting as well as the implementation of IFRS 17 for Allianz Ayudhya.

The role as a technical lead will required to have:

  • Natural aptitude in looking into / handling details, with unwavering curiosity to drive investigation / understanding of results to the fullest. 
  • Excellent actuarial technical & logical thinking skills to confidently articulate complex actuarial IFRS17 results / findings, and report to Chief Actuary / senior finance team / Regional / Group Office in a concise and succinct manner.
  • Act as go to person regarding IFRS17 topics for the Actuarial Department.
  • Able to lead, coach, challenge and motivate junior members of the IFRS17 team, and help team to improve over time.

Your Day at Allianz Ayudhya

1) Actuarial Valuation (IFRS 17)

  • Be the actuarial technical lead in the IFRS 17 reporting.
  • Lead juniors in Corporate Actuarial and work closely with other local parties (e.g. Accounting, Investment and IT) to deliver all IFRS 17 business-as-usual (BAU) reporting deliverables as well as analyses.
  • Present analysis on the IFRS 17 Operating Profits to internal management & regional/Group office.
  • Ensure the compliance of the IFRS 17 valuations with the IFRS 17 standards and Allianz Group internal policies and complete the regular audits. Optimize the valuation basis where appropriate.
  • Work with modelling team to automate & streamline the IFRS 17 reporting process, to reduce the turnaround time.
  • Develop juniors in the technical understanding of IFRS 17.

2) TFRS 17 implementation

  • Work closely with Accounting & IT and support the coordination of IFRS 17 implementation. Present project status, issues and any relevant technical topics in the working group meeting  or as required.
  • Be the actuarial technical lead in the local implantation. Perform gap analysis and work with relevant parties to close the gaps. Study, propose and document the local positions on the various IFRS 17 technical topics.
  • Work with local reporting team to operationalize IFRS 17 as BAU reporting, ensuring the required systems & processes are in place.
  • Participate in industry discussions / working groups in relation to IFRS 17.

3) Actuarial Model Enhancement

  • Guide junior staff and work with modelling team to define the requirements in developing and updating the actuarial model.
  • Perform independent review of model changes and complete model UAT. Quantify the financial impact and properly communicate the impact locally and to the regional/Group office.
  • Define outstanding issues of model/ methodology changes and follow-up on the implementation.

4) Financial Modeling for Planning Dialogue / Strategic Dialogue

  • Perform financial modeling in the annual budgeting exercises. Deliver all requirements timely and in good quality.
  • Provide analysis on the projections to explain the underlying drivers, for both internal management and for regional/Group office.


5) Annual Assumption Review

  • Lead juniors to complete annual assumption study (selected experience) as assigned. Analyze the experience propose assumptions to Chief Actuary.

Must Have

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Finance, Actuarial Sciences, Economics, Financial Engineering, or other related fields
  • Minimum 7 years experience in Reinsurance, Actuarial Valuation, Actuarial Pricing, or other related fields in insurance, preferably in Actuarial Valuation

Nice to Have

  • Knowledge of programming languages for statistical analysis and mathematical modelling (e.g. R, Python,

Matlab, SQL)

  • Experience in data analysis and visualization as well as interpreting KPIs (e.g. PowerBI, Tableau)
  • Knowledge of data analytics software for insurance (e.g. Quantemplate, Reliable Software)
  • Knowledge of collaborative project management tools (e.g. Trello, JIRA, Asana)
  • Experience with cloud-based tools (e.g. Microsoft Azure, AWS)
  • Risk management and assessment skills
