Job Purpose/Role
Proactively investigate, evaluate and negotiate resolution of assigned Liability (Mid-Corp and Corporate) claims in accordance with established best practices and assure claims are handled within granted autonomy limits. Develop and maintain relationships with brokers and clients as well as internal business partners. Provide efficient claims handling within team while working with third-party service providers in achieving economical results and to provide high quality service to all internal and external relationships.


Key Responsibilities

  • Investigate claims that involve complex liability issues on domestic and multinational claims
  • Evaluate and address coverage issues and determine appropriate reserving levels
  • Select and direct independent external service providers (e.g. Lawyers, Independent Adjusters, Experts)
  • Negotiate and resolve noncomplex claims ensuring cost effective, service orientated solutions
  • Ensure claims are settled in accordance with settlement guidelines.
  • Ensure all claims handled within authority limits, and in line with AGCS Claims complex procedures and guidelines
  • Refer cases outside of authority level, preparing referral documentation and materials as appropriate
  • Support establishment of claims management procedures on new or existing business accounts in association with clients, brokers and loss adjusters
  • Drive effective SIU and subrogation processes
  • Proactively support acquisition of new business and retention of existing business
  • Proactively liaise with underwriters on market management initiatives; and attend industry functions
  • Positively represent AGCS externally to the market and develop and maintain relationships with brokers and clients, as well as other relevant stakeholders (e.g. third-party adjusters)
  • Proactively drive involvement of functional areas in Claims handling process, e.g. Underwriting, Operations
  • Effectively report and present complex and contentious loss and claims information internally and externally
  • Input and maintain accurate claims records for designated accounts, within appropriate AGCS Claims administration systems
  • Manage timely production of management information reports (e.g. monthly major claims movements) and proactively identify loss trends


Key Requirements/Skills/Experience

  • College degree
  • 5-7 years of experience and detailed knowledge of the claim handling process from notification to settlement and recovery
  • Proven track record of handling Liability claims involving non-complex coverage and damage issues
  • Understanding of Auto claims products, wordings, terms and conditions and coverages
  • Understanding of reserving principles and practices
  • Ability to negotiate resolutions with claimants and/or their attorneys
  • Demonstrated established relationships with brokers at peer level as well as being established in the local market
  • In-depth understanding of regional/local LoB insurance markets and competitor landscape
  • Multi-lingual – a plus
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, analytical skills, negotiation and conflict management skills
  • Solid IT skills in the use of general application tools (e.g. Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
