Who can Apply?
Graduates who are pursuing or have earned an undergraduate degree are eligible to apply. For our Allianz Rotational or Underwriting graduate schemes, specific degrees are not required. Your enthusiasm for our enterprise and desire to succeed are what really count.
We'll be looking for you to roll up your sleeves, get to work, and care deeply about your work. Making a significant impact matter to us, and it should matter to you as well.
We're looking for future leaders, so if you have a want to learn and a readiness to do so, we'll be there for you every step of the way. You can also be confident that you will be treated as more than a name here. At Allianz, you actually matter and are more than simply a number.
Please review the job definition for each of our graduate programmes to see the particular qualifications, location, and starting pay when the position is advertised on the job board. We encourage you to apply for a position with us if you are enthusiastic and eager to join us but are unsure that you meet all the requirements.
Choose Your Development Experience
Allianz Rotational
On our rotational graduate scheme, you’ll spend at least two and a half years learning, growing, and developing invaluable leadership skills.
In your first 12 months, you’ll learn about the world of insurance. From here on, you’ll be able to tailor the scheme to your individual interests and strengths by rotating across three business areas of your choice, spending six months working in each of them.
We’ll work with you to build your career within Allianz, and you’ll have the chance to work with talented people across the business, whether in Allianz or LV=GI, our personal lines business. These mentors will educate and inspire you, as you undertake projects to challenge yourself.
You may already have an understanding of what insurance is, but we want to assure you that there’s a whole range of roles outside of claims and underwriting, from working with pets to bringing electric vehicles to market. Why not take a look at some of our graduate profiles to see what they have been up to since joining the business to discover the different jobs you could be doing.
As a rotational graduate, you will have the opportunity to gain a professional qualification. Most, if not all, of our qualifications are based on the apprenticeship model. Within the first few months of your joining Allianz, we’ll have a discussion with you about what qualification options will best suit your chosen path.
As a UK-wide insurer, we are looking for our graduate talent pool to mirror this and span all across the UK in our regional offices. Your placement could be in either Allianz, LV=GI, Petplan, or Allianz Engineering. We have offices across the UK, meaning you could be in Glasgow for one placement, then move to one of our Head Offices in Bournemouth or Guildford for your next placement.
Underwriting
Underwriting is at the heart of any insurance company, so developing your skills in this core area opens the door to a whole range of opportunities. Our two-year underwriting scheme is designed to give you all the skills and technical know-how you need to become a successful underwriter and technical specialist of the future.
Which risks are worth taking for a business? At what price and under what conditions? These are the decisions underwriters need to make after carrying out careful assessments of individual companies and negotiating terms and prices with brokers.
You’ll gain a huge breadth of experience and will specialise in commercial business, and we have a large and varied customer base in the UK, so you could find yourself arranging insurance policies for a hotel in London, a motor fleet in the Midlands, or a construction project in Scotland.
As an underwriting graduate, you’ll have the opportunity to complete the Chartered Insurance Institute’s Advanced Diploma in Insurance (ACII), and there are different ways to achieve this, one of which is the apprenticeship route. In addition to your CII qualification, you’ll also complete Allianz’s market-leading Excellence in Technical programme.
As a UK-wide insurer, we are looking for our graduate talent pool to mirror this and span all across the UK in our regional offices. You will be located in one of our regional branches throughout your time as an underwriting graduate at Allianz. Please note, the job you apply for will be determined by the branch’s specialisation, so please check the vacancy for the location and line of business.
Actuarial
Our actuaries are at the heart of what we do. They influence every decision we make – from how much to charge for a single policy to how much to pay for a potential acquisition.
Their technical expertise, unique perspective and commercial awareness are relied upon by other teams and are critical to our overall success.
Right from the start you’ll be involved in reserving, pricing, planning and capital modelling for the different lines of business across the company. You have the opportunity to enrol in the graduate development programme, alongside your role and you’ll partner with the business across both pricing and reserving work and you’ll be involved in challenging analytical projects – from preparing and reconciling reserving data to analysing trends in our pricing data.
You’ll also be involved in business planning which will give you the opportunity to gain exposure to our top business leaders as we develop forecasts for future business growth. This way, you’ll build commercial and industry awareness and you’ll get a full insight into how the business departments link together.
The scheme also supports your progression through the actuarial exams over a number of years, and the funding you need to successfully qualify as a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries.
Finance
In a company with a strong financial performance like ours, it’s safe to say that our Finance team has their work cut out for them. Joining our graduate scheme, you'll be challenged with the day-to-day accounting and the bigger picture.
On this three-year scheme you’ll work in a dynamic and friendly team spread across three key areas: Core Accounting (Accounts Payable, Cashiers or Management Accounts), Financial Accounting (within a Business Division) and other Accounting (Internal Audit, Tax or Group Accounts) at our head office in Guildford.
You’ll spend a year in each area, working on exciting challenges and gaining hands-on, hard-to-beat experience from day one. From day-to-day accounting processes to quarterly, monthly and year-end responsibilities, you’ll learn the ins and the outs of managing finances. And we’ll show you the bigger picture too, like how a large insurance company keeps its finger on the financial pulse.
As you rotate around different areas of Finance, you’ll get involved in an interesting and evolving range of projects, growing your skills at every step of the way, adding real value to the business while being supported through your CIMA or ACCA qualifications.
You’ll have direct access to our buddying and mentoring schemes, which are a great way to make connections throughout the business and to learn more about our work. We’ll also put you in touch with other Allianz graduates, so that you can share your experiences with your peers and build a network with the business managers of tomorrow.
To join our Finance graduate scheme, you’ll need a degree from any university but in a highly numerate discipline. Applicants will enjoy analysing data, interpreting results and drawing conclusions from them.
Pricing
Our Pricing teams are at the forefront of using innovative data analysis and modelling tools, to deliver accurate and sustainable prices that enable us to better secure the future of our customers. We invest in supporting individuals to reach their potential and we believe that with the necessary skills, anything can be taught.
The Commercial Pricing team has responsibility for Allianz’s full suite of Commercial products including Mid Corporate Property and Casualty, Fleet and SME insurance. Coupled with opportunities to work abroad, there is always an opportunity to learn something new.
Each individual in the team is aligned to one of the following disciplines:
Technical Modelling - producing an accurate view of claims costs through data driven analysis
Street Pricing - development of prices and pricing analytics to ensure we achieve our required financial result
Deployment - efficient and effective delivery of prices to customers through our IT systems
The initial focus of the Pricing Graduate Scheme is to provide you with the necessary training to succeed in your role. We use several software (Emblem, Radar, SAS, Excel) and coding languages (Python, SQL, R) within the team and all are covered to some extent during our Bronze Accreditation programme.
Once you have completed formal training, you will spend your first year aligned with one of the Fleet, SME or Mid Corporate lines of business. Your focus will either be on Technical Modelling or Street Pricing and you are also likely to get exposure to deployment. In your second year, you will switch between Technical Modelling and Street Pricing, potentially working in a different line of business.
During your two years, you will be located in our head office in Guildford and there is also the opportunity to do a placement in one of the teams we work with such as Account Management, Data or Actuarial Reserving.
For those interested in professional qualifications, we have members of the team who, alongside their role, are pursuing a Masters in Data Science while others are taking exams with the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries. These options become available following the initial focus on Pricing specific training.
To enjoy a role in Pricing it is likely that you will have an interest in problem solving and coding. This role is suitable for new graduates so no prior experience is expected. The most relevant degrees are numerate in nature.

Data
Would you like to focus on data and data-driven decision-making to enable our business to better exploit data as a strategic asset? It is an exciting time at Allianz, as we go through a data transformation journey, and our data teams create and deliver meaningful value every day using the latest data tools and methods, our vast pools of data, combined with deep industry expertise. Join our team and you'll enjoy exposure across our business as you work with global colleagues to help us move forward.
Claims Data
At Allianz, we enhance the experience of our customers everyday through the handling of their claims. As a claims data graduate, you will start in a claims handling centre getting some hands-on experience, which will give you a great insight into our claims area of the business. Following this, you will have the opportunity to join the claims data and insights team, which will give you an understanding of many different areas within our business as you interact with colleagues from IT and Data teams across the UK. Your final placement will be more strategy focused, providing you with insight into the wider implications of claims data across the business.
During your time on the graduate scheme, you may be located in one of our Claims Handling Centres or in our Head Office in Guilford. Alongside this, you will have the opportunity to complete the Chartered Insurance Institute’s Advanced Diploma in Insurance (ACII).
Engineer Surveyor Apprenticeship
Engineer Surveyors provide a vital role in enabling the safe operation of plant equipment and installations which protect employees and the public who use them. Our two-year Engineer Surveyor Apprenticeship will set you up with the skills and qualifications to support our clients' safety and move into a highly flexible and autonomous role as an Engineer Surveyor upon completion.
By the end of the apprenticeship, you will have achieved professional status (MSOE & Eng Tech) and a Higher (level 4) apprenticeship, enabling you to progress into the role of an Engineer Surveyor.
In the longer term, you will have the foundation to work towards a role leading a team, management, and more if this is where you would like to go.

Meet Alba
"After a year of being at Allianz, I can confidently recommend this company as a place to work. As one of the largest insurers in the world, there is so much you can explore within the business and plenty of opportunities to learn and develop - not just through formal education, but also from colleagues and from experiencing different roles."
-
Meet Lily
"The main thing that has surprise me since starting is how supportive Allianz is. When I expressed my desire to move roles from underwriting, I was helped each step of the way and felt very supported in my decision."
-
Meet Charlie
"Despite the business being one of the largest insurers in the world everyone is extremely friendly, and people are always willing to support you. This can be getting exposure to a new area of the business or can be through offering up time to help with career progression or support in your “day to day” role."
-
Meet Annete
"I have had constant exposure to senior stakeholders, including the CEO of Allianz Holdings, the previous CEOs of Allianz Commercial and Personal, the Chief Financial Officer, the Chief Operations Officer, the Chief Human Resources Officer and the Chief Risk Officer as well as an Allianz SE Board member who manages Global Insurance Lines & Anglo Markets, Reinsurance, Iberia & Latin America, Middle East, Africa.
Allianz also trusts its employees; I have managed projects regardless of my current junior status in a safe and supportive environment."

Meet Ethan
"During my final year at university I was still very unsure on where I wanted to take my career. I always knew I wanted to work in a big company as I feel like there are so many opportunities to learn that can’t really be matched elsewhere and after reading how the rotational scheme works here, I knew straight away that this was the place for me. Allianz is such a well-known brand and one of the largest insurers in the world, and the prospect of working across so many different areas of the business was so exciting. Having the chance to still figure out the best career path for me by gaining actual experience in such a wide range of roles has been invaluable and it was the deciding factor in me choosing Allianz."

Three questions: Why insurance? Why Allianz? Why are you applying for the role? We also want to hear about you, so there will be a section on this as well. Feel free to let your character come out in the application form. At Allianz, we are proud to be one of the most trusted insurance companies, with a workforce as diverse as the world itself.Thousands of graduates apply to Allianz each year and so making yourself stand out will go a long way.
-
We have thought careful about whether tests are relevant for each role, not all roles have tests. The tests we use are not designed to catch you out but are there to highlight your strengths, skills and way of thinking. This will show Allianz if you're right for this sector and the demands of the role. Don't let them scare you - even if you don't think you've done very well in one area, you will have shone in another.
-
This is designed to bring your personal side out during the application process. There won't be anyone on the other side; instead you will listen to a pre-recorded question and have an allotted time to record a response. It can feel strange sitting in your bedroom talking to a screen, but this is a perfect opportunity to let your personality come out. Practice makes perfect so make sure to have some general answers prepared and have lots of examples to hand and draw these examples from different aspects such as university work, group work, extra-curricular activities and part time employment.
-
This is the final stage and you'll spend the day meeting people from across the business while undertaking different activities to showcase your skills.
Application Tips
Applying for a Graduate role is very competitive, so to help interested applicants make the most of their application we’ve put together some tips.
- Research Allianz and decide whether our purpose, strategy and company culture align with your values.
- We don’t need a cover letter; you can just fill out the application form and attach a CV if it supports your application. If you don’t have a CV don’t worry the application will be enough.
- It’s ok to be nervous, but don’t be unprepared. Practise and preparation are the key to interviews. Research potential behavioural, competency, motivational questions that you might be asked and think of specific examples that relate to each competency. (Hint – check out our Values!) Practice aloud or in front of a camera – it will make all the difference!
- Ask questions during the interview – this is a two-way street, and you need to determine if you can see yourself working for Allianz as much as we can see you fitting into our team.
- Be authentic, be yourself and show your personality. We want to get to know the real you!
- Research, Research, Research! There is so much going on in our industry. Check out our latest news and insights here.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
I already work at Allianz, can I still apply?
Yes, if you meet the eligibility requirements, then you are welcome to apply.
My degree discipline is not on the candidate specification for the opportunity that I am interested in, can I still apply?
Yes, your suitability for the graduate scheme will also take into account your values, experience, and attributes. If we believe that your experiences align with these, then you can still apply.
If I am a mature graduate, can I still apply?
Yes, you are welcome to apply if you have only recently graduated (within the last three years). We think that the differences among our employees are what differentiates our company.
Do I need to relocate if I am successful?
We operate with a flexible working model, which means that in most roles, you will be able to divide your time between home and the office. You will still be based in one of our offices around the UK, so relocation may be required.
I have a disability and/or health condition, are you able to provide support or adjustments throughout the recruitment process?
Allianz has a barrier-free policy whereby we are committed to removing barriers to the application and recruitment process as much as possible. We work closely with several organisations, including the Business Disability Forum, to ensure we are disability-smart.
Candidates will be judged on their suitability for a job alone. When applying, candidates will be asked whether any adjustments are needed for the recruitment process. We’re dedicated to ensuring we’re able to meet any specific needs for a disabled candidate, whether that’s through better access, different equipment or alternative formats for literature.
As part of our commitment, provided a candidate has disclosed their disability and meets the minimum requirements of the vacancy, we will guarantee an interview for that person.
