Application tips and preparation
Applying for a Graduate role is very competitive, so to help interested applicants make the most of their application we’ve put together some tips.
- Research Allianz and decide whether our purpose, strategy and company culture align with your values.
- Limit your resume to 2-3 pages maximum. Be sure to start from your most recent experience and include your education, extracurricular activities and contact details. PDF all documents so that the formatting is protected. Don’t forget to update your LinkedIn as well.
- Take the time to personalise your cover letter to Allianz and the role you are applying for.
- Read the application criteria carefully and don’t forget to attach all the documents that are required such as your academic transcript and cover letter.
- It’s ok to be nervous, but don’t be unprepared. Practise and preparation are the key to interviews. Research potential behavioural questions that you might be asked and think of specific examples that relate to each competency. Practice aloud or in front of a camera – it will make all the difference!
- Ask questions during the interview – this is a two-way street and you need to determine if you can see yourself working for Allianz as much as we can see you fitting into our team.
- Be authentic, be yourself and show your personality. We want to get to know the real you!

Meet our Grads
Meet Aidan
One of the most impactful aspects of Aidan’s graduate experience has been stepping away from theory and into practical applications of risk.
“At university, you often start with a concept and try to imagine how it might apply in the real world,” he explains. “At Allianz, it’s often the other way around.”

Meet Laura
Like many graduates, Laura initially found the data space intimidating. She associated it with deep technical work, coding and complex analysis. Through her graduate rotations, however, her view of what a career in data could look like quickly broadened. “Over time, I realised it’s not just about working with data,” she explains. “It’s about interpreting it, telling a story, and using it to guide decisions.”
Meet Nancy
As part of the General Insurance stream, Nancy has been able to explore the breadth of Allianz through multiple rotations, working across Technical, Consumer and Commercial teams in very different roles. “Being able to rotate across different parts of the business has been one of the best parts of the program,” she explains. “It’s helped me understand what I enjoy, what I’m good at, and where I still want to grow.”
Meet Justin
When you’re a graduate, you’re sure to be faced with the unfamiliar and the new. While it’s easy to stay within the safety of what you know, Justin discovered that in order to get the most out of the Graduate Program, he had to step outside of his comfort zone. “One of my biggest tips for Grads starting out would be to step out of your comfort zone and take up new challenges that arise,” he says. “It is very easy to stay complacent and comfortable within your own little bubble, but your greatest learning occurs when you are challenged with the unfamiliar."
