Discovering the impact of data through the Graduate Program
Joining the Allianz Graduate Program gave Laura the opportunity to turn her natural curiosity into real‑world impact. Drawn to understanding why people behave the way they do, she entered the program keen to explore how data could be used to solve problems and influence decisions across the business.
“I’d always enjoyed problem‑solving,” she says. “Whether it was building something or piecing together a puzzle, data felt like a way to turn that curiosity into something practical.”
Like many graduates, Laura initially found the data space intimidating. She associated it with deep technical work, coding and complex analysis. Through her graduate rotations, however, her view of what a career in data could look like quickly broadened.
“Over time, I realised it’s not just about working with data,” she explains. “It’s about interpreting it, telling a story, and using it to guide decisions.”

Learning to think like a data detective
Through her rotations in the Graduate Program, Laura has been able to explore different aspects of data, from technical analysis through to insight‑driven work.
One area she has particularly enjoyed is analysing customer behaviour across Allianz’s digital experiences. By examining how customers move through different journeys, she has learned how even small changes can lead to unexpected outcomes.
“One A/B test where a small wording change led to a significant increase in drop‑offs really stood out,” she says. “What mattered most was being able to explain why it happened, not just report the numbers.”
This ability to uncover insights and explain the behaviour behind them has become a defining part of her graduate experience.

Exploring where she adds the most value
The structure of the Graduate Program has allowed Laura to work across both the technical and strategic sides of data. From model building and AI automation, through to dashboard development and reporting, each rotation has helped her understand how different capabilities come together to support the business.
“Working across both has helped me see where I add the most value,” she says. “I really enjoy work where technical analysis connects directly to decision‑making and business impact.”

Turning insights into outcomes
In her first rotation, Laura spent time redeveloping a dashboard used by consumer partners to track quote and sales performance.
After months of prototyping and incorporating stakeholder feedback, she delivered a solution that provided clear, actionable insights through a daily refreshed Power BI dashboard.
“It gave stakeholders instant visibility across different parts of the business,” she explains. “It highlighted areas of growth as well as where more attention was needed to better support customers.”

Growing through collaboration
Through the Graduate Program, Laura has learned that her strengths sit at the intersection of analysis and storytelling.
“I enjoy taking messy or complex data and turning it into something clear and relevant,” she says.
She has also discovered how important collaboration is to her way of working. Engaging closely with stakeholders and understanding the problems they are trying to solve has led to stronger, more practical outcomes throughout her rotations.

Looking ahead
As Laura continues through the program, she is excited by the opportunities emerging in AI and automation, particularly where technology can support better, more consistent decision‑making.
“I’m really interested in how data and technology can reshape how decisions are made, while still supporting people to make the final call,” she says.
For Laura, the Graduate Program has provided the foundation to build a career where curiosity, data and meaningful impact come together.
