We are looking for a Financial Accounting Expert (m/f) to join Allianz Risk Transfer (ART) preferably in Schaan (Liechtenstein), Zurich/Wallisellen (Switzerland), or in Munich (Germany).

  

Your Team
The Accounting Allianz Risk Transfer (ART) team is responsible for the non-insurance related closing tasks under IFRS, HGB and Solvency II, the preparation of the annual report of ART as well as for several regulatory and management reporting.
 

The Impact You Will Have 
This role offers a unique challenge. Unlike many accountancy roles, this opportunity is not focused on AP/AR, payroll, expenses or invoice posting. You will have in this position a significant impact upon our global business: from general ledger (investment and corporate income taxes) to Closing; from data analyzing and reporting to providing a truly consultative service to our global stakeholders.

 

Some of your specific responsibilities could include: 

  • Ensure that all IFRS, GAAP and Statutory closing and reporting tasks (e.g. annual report, reporting to regulatory authorities, NAIC reporting, other internal/external reporting requirements) related to your area of responsibility are accurate and timely on a global basis. 
  • Execute assigned postings, journal entries and account reconciliations on a periodic basis. Reconcile and settle intercompany transactions within the affiliated company group.
  • Coordination and reconcilation of data from interfaces of front-end systems.
  • Ensure that all closing activities including posting of accruals, deferred acquisition expenses and other accounting transactions are completed in a timely manner.
  • Support colleagues in the near- and offshore entities with their closing tasks, coordinate the tasks and supervise the teams and perform quality checks on the work done.    
  • Document application of policies, procedures and workflow for your areas of responsibility.
  • Archive records to satisfy audit and statutory requirements.
  • Draft standards to improve quality as well as active contribution in improving and implementing global operation cycles, processes and workflows as well as the implemention of global policies and procedures.
  • Global P&L analysis and reviews: Assist internal clients (e.g. other departments) with reports, research and other activities. Identify items or discussion or resolution.
  • Manage relationship with 3rd parties (auditors, tax authorities) and other business units.    

 

What You’ll Bring to the Role 

  • Degree preferably in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics or qualified by experience in related discipline
  • Professional qualification related to Accounting (e.g. CPA, ACCA, etc.)
  • Ideally 5 years of professional experience in Reinsurance, P&C Insurance and/or Asset Management
  • Ideally 5 years of experience working with standard accounting (GAAP & IFRS) for insurance and reinsurance
  • Comprehensive knowledge of local GAAP, IAS/IFRS, Regulatory, Tax and other relevant requirements with regards to reporting, compliance and declaration
  • Excellent analytical thinking and problem solving skills
  • Excellent ability to manage projects and to handle complex processes including understanding of data flows, documentation of processes, analysis of root causes and creation of action plans
  • Ability to collaborate across teams and remotely as well as ability to supervise and coordinate near- and offshore teams without authority
  • Advanced digital skills with knowledge of data architecture, understanding the potential of data analytics and the ability to digitalize the accounting processes and explain the accounting needs to third parties
  • Advanced Office skills like Excel, Access & Powerpoint to effectively analyze data and convey messages in a winning fashion and proficiency in using systems in your own area (like SAP, Business Warehouse)
  • Proficiency in both German and English languages is required.
