We are looking for a Claims Manager, based in Tokyo.

The Impact You Will Have  

Reporting to the Region Head of Claims in Asia, you will proactively investigate, evaluate, negotiate, and settle claims, ensure claims are handled within your authority limits and in line with Allianz Commercial Claims Standards procedures and guidelines. You will drive excellence in the claims handling service provided to brokers, clients, and internal customers.  

 

Some of your specific responsibilities could include: 

  • Ensure that all local Claims are handled in line with Allianz Commercial standards. 
  • Support the Regional Heads of Claims in the development of the Regional Claims strategy and implement locally. 
  • Manage and develop local Claims staff. 
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with brokers and clients in collaboration with Underwriting and Distribution Management. 
  • Ensure efficient and effective local case reserve setting , supervision and monitoring of large losses. 
  • Drive implementation of best practice operational Claims handling processes, in line with global processes. 
  • Proactively support acqusition of new business and retention of existing business  (including client and broker negotiations where necessary) and liaise with Distribution Management on market management initiatives. 
  • Positively represent Allianz Commercial internally within the Allianz Group, and externally to the market. 

 

What You’ll Bring to the Role 

  • Understanding in relevant products, wordings, terms and conditions and coverages. 
  • Significant experience in Claims management position in relevant line of business. 
  • Expert understanding of regional / local LoB insurance markets and competitor landscape 
  • Expert understanding of legal and regulatory framework. 
  • Significant experience in leadership of direct teams internationally and within complex global matrix environments. 
  • Ability to negotiate best position for Allianz Commerfcial, and client, often in contentious situations, managing conflicting priorities of various parties. 
  • Ability to analyze highly complex data, from multiple sources, in detail; identify and resolve issues before they transpire. 
  • Fluent Japanese and Business English skills.
