Job Purpose/Role
Based in Rotterdam, you will work out of our new office located on the Coolsingel where you will join a dedicated team of diverse and international professionals. You will report to the Regional Head of Energy & Construction Mediterranean & Africa Region based in Antwerp.
Within the Energy & Construction Underwriting Department of Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty, Mediterranean and Africa region, you will work as a Senior Underwriter in the Construction and Energy segment on both a local and regional level.

Your clients will be large broker firms and Dutch and European clients. Your role will be to develop, negotiate and underwrite profitable insurance programs and you will be working together with the regional C&E underwriting team, risk engineering services , claims and operations departments.


Key Responsibilities
In this role you will….

  • Underwrite new and renewal business to meet profitability targets
  • Underwrite in line with the Energy & Construction governance framework e.g. Underwriting Authorities, Underwriting Guidelines and Functional Rules
  • Ensure all Legal & Compliance rules and regulations are met in due time
  • Issue accurate policy documentation on time and file according to AGCS standards
  • Manage your portfolio in close collaboration with the local and regional team
  • Contribute to the development and execution of regional underwriting strategy
  • Create and maintain positive relationships with key producers and clients and other relevant stakeholders
  • Follow closely the KPI’s defined with your manager.


Key Requirements/Skills/Experience

  • Preferably, you have a degree either in Engineering/Construction, economics, or other appropriate discipline
  • You are fully certified [Wft]
  • You have at least 7 years’ experience underwriting profitable business in the Engineering & Construction segment of large corporate international insurance
  • You have a strong network in the Dutch market with a good knowledge of the E&C landscape
  • You have a good understanding of the legal and regulatory environment
  • You have strong communication skills and are comfortable working on both a local and regional level
  • Capable of leveraging data and analytics to make business more efficient and effective, utilizing your highly proficient computer skills
  • You can design, develop and implement consistent, robust wordings for contracts
  • You are fluent in Dutch and English.
