We are looking for you! We are currently hiring a forward-thinking and results-oriented Software Engineer (f/m/d) to focus on building cutting-edge API solutions for our global digital wealth management offering within our Analytics and Digital Platform team. This position is based in our Munich office. 

risklab is the expert for investment and risk solutions within Allianz Global Investors. Over 60 investment professionals worldwide develop advisory services and solutions that are tailored to the individual investment goals of our clients. Within this exciting role, you will be working with a team of experts to implement digital building blocks for quantitative investment advice, tailor them to our client needs and deliver them to internal and external partners via APIs. Additionally, the position offers not only the chance to architect globally available APIs but allows you to tap into the financial industry and quantitative investment advice. As our digital wealth management offering is a cross-team effort you will work in tight collaboration not only with our investment professionals but with experts from other technology and business teams.

What you will do 

 

  • Design, build, document and maintain high quality web APIs for wealth management solutions 
  • Work closely with investment professionals, data, and technology teams to understand business problems and produce scalable solutions to support business growth
  • Apply software design methods, tools, and techniques. Undertake impact analysis on design options, make recommendations and assess associated risks
  • Ensure that software design balances functional, quality, security and system requirements  
  • Maintain and extend our data pipelines on Azure Data Factory and Azure Databricks, for example by troubleshooting errors in Databricks notebooks
  • Maintain and extend our end-to-end testing pipelines for our cloud applications, for example by automating our API performance testing suite via Github Actions
  • Improve our CI-CD pipelines, such as optimizing the build times of our Docker images on Github Actions
  • Improve the scalability of our applications, for instance the auto-scaling of our API deployments in Kubernetes and resolve performance bottlenecks
  • Strengthen the monitoring of our cloud applications, for example by improving our Datadog dashboards

 
What you bring 

 

  • 3+ years of professional experience in application development with at least one programming language, ideally with C# or Python 
  • Good knowledge of modern cloud data technologies including relational and non-relational databases (such as Azure Data Factory, Azure Datalake, Azure SQL, NoSQL databases like Redis)
  • Prior experience in building cloud native applications on container-based platforms such as Microsoft Azure Kubernetes Services and familiarity with Helm
  • Prior experience in implementing CI-CD pipelines on platforms like Jenkins, Azure Devops or Github Actions
  • Prior experience in building products as microservices to rapidly prototype and reliably build complex, high quality, resilient enterprise applications
  • Degree in Computer Science, Sciences, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics or directly related field  
  • Good understanding of the processes behind API life cycle management and prior experience in building web APIs using REST frameworks  
  • Experience with modern agile software development and testing methodologies with modern ALM tools such as GitHub or Azure DevOps  
  • Passion for learning and advancing new technology topics
  • Empathetic teammate, flexible, pro-active, self-reliant, and forward thinking  
  • Willingness and ability to work as part of a team, in an upbeat, fast-paced and business-critical environment  
  • Interest in finance
  • Proficiency in English both written and verbal
