A typical day for Fabian is anything but routine. His responsibilities span across a broad spectrum, from continuous monitoring and early detection of security threats to managing stakeholder communications and overseeing critical security projects. Fabian's role is deeply intertwined with ensuring that information remains protected, security risks are effectively managed, and the organization is prepared to handle both incremental changes and sudden disruptions.

"When it comes to Information security, my team is responsible to protect the confidentiality, integrity and availability of Allianz's valuable information and help Allianz Technology and our customers achieve the best level of Security Assurance. In that respect, I oversee the delivery of services for the projects to help our stakeholders implement suitable information security controls, in accordance with the information security policies and standards.

Furthermore, we aim to develop and maintain a security awareness culture by boosting employees' awareness, knowledge and engagement regarding security and resilience in a transparent way. Multiple awareness initiatives are being conducted under my guidance, meant to provide our employees with the tools and knowledge necessary to quickly identify and respond to security threats and unexpected events in an appropriate manner."

Key projects include the Asset Risk Assurance (ARA) initiative, a cornerstone of the Allianz Group's security compliance framework, and IRM@Allianz Technology, a ServiceNow-based application that automates risk management and enhances real-time monitoring and transparency. 

    Additionally, his team launched the Security Passport program, a comprehensive training initiative that offers a diverse range of training modules to all employees, helping them build a solid foundation in information security.

He believes that simple gestures like saying "please" and "thank you" go a long way.

"Curiosity, being proactive, and learning how to collaborate with people are my top three recommendations for skills that have an impact both at work and in our personal lives. Curiosity is essential for comprehending what is going on around us, embracing change, and staying ahead of the curve. We get better at what we do by asking questions. Curiosity is the only way to stay above the surface and ensure we are part of change in a world where everything, including the things we take for granted, are always changing. 

When we consider the professional environment, we know all too well that working in silos, which is common, does not have the same impact compared to when we work collaboratively, with one another. Teamwork is more than just sharing responsibilities. It is also about bringing to life an ambitious vision that appears out of reach. So we come together to think big and act big, as we want our actions to have an impact at Allianz as well as with our consumers.
