Social Impact and Sustainability Jobs
Creating Significant Impact
At Allianz, we work hard to ensure that the way we run our business enables us to have a positive social and environmental impact on our surrounding communities. We’re committed to reducing our carbon emissions from our offices across the UK and we’ve been carbon neutral since 2012. We will continue to set ourselves targets including sourcing 99.9% of our electricity from renewable sources by 2023.
A sustainable future for us.
As part of our commitment to minimising our environmental impact, we have an established carbon reduction strategy to reduce CO2 emissions. We continue to invest in video-conferencing and encourage employees to seek alternative options or more sustainable modes - such as rail or car-sharing to reduce business travel. We have introduced various digital programmes to reduce the amount of paper we use; including greatly increased digital communications with customers. We also use various waste contractors around the UK to maximise post-collection separation and recycling.

Let's learn today for a sustainable tomorrow
A sustainable tomorrow requires action from each and every one of us in our private and professional life. The road to change and climate action starts with climate literacy. With the recently launched e-learning tool, the Allianz Sustainability Training, you receive the basics on sustainability in an "edutaining" way. In addition, you can learn why sustainability is so important, what Allianz is doing to integrate sustainability, and get inspiration on how you, as an individual, can contribute.
Insights from Line Hestvik
"Sustainability means to me that we need to take care of nature, our earth, and the societies we live in. "
Line Hestvik, Chief Sustainability Officer at Allianz SE.
Training and Developing our People
We focus on promoting lifelong learning through our newly launched initiative #learn. We employ various learning and development approaches, including on-the-job learning, mentoring and coaching, classroom training workshops, peer circles, and digital/mobile education. Recruiting and training our specialists is a key priority. The Property & Casualty and Life & Health Academy aim to strengthen group-wide underwriting and pricing capabilities. Allianz also has programs in critical areas, including strategy, finance, communications, market management, and operations.
Fostering the Share Ownership Culture
Encouraging the share ownership culture of being simpler, faster, and better for our customers means working together as one Allianz. As such, all our employees should benefit when we succeed. The Allianz Employee Share Purchase Plan (ESPP) is designed to enable our employees to share in the long-term performance of Allianz SE on the stock market as shareholders, owners, and employees. For every 3 Euro invested in the share program, Allianz contributes 1 Euro. As a result, more than 50 percent of employees across 42 countries (2020: 42 countries) are Allianz shareholders. In 2021, the Allianz ESPP was recognized externally by the Global Equity Organization (GEO), winning the award for Best Plan Communication.
Corporate Volunteering Programs
Together, we are shaping a positive future for the next generations.
Today's children and youth are tomorrow's leaders, employees, customers, and investors. But they still face significant training, education, and employment barriers to achieving self-sustained livelihoods. We have a role to play in ensuring that the next generations can overcome the economic and social impacts of the pandemic and other geopolitical and systematic social risks, such as climate change.
Inclusive Meritocracy
Inclusive Meritocracy is the term we use to describe a culture and working environment where people and performance matter. It represents a corporate culture of mutual trust and respect, empowerment and collaboration where diversity is appreciated, and customer satisfaction is a high priority. Performance impacts rewards and is encouraged by clear two-way leadership communication. A culture where people and performance matter.
