  • Max Regenhardt

    Business Analyst/ Executive Assistant

Are you a university graduate or a school leaver?  If a university graduate, what did you study?

I am a school leaver, I finished my A levels in June 2020, this was during prime covid, so it was difficult for me to find jobs at this point, I worked in a little hotel in my hometown of Bournemouth before joining AGCS in 2021.

How would you describe your experience within AGCS so far?

My time so far at AGCS has been great. I came in as an Apprentice into the Distribution team in RUL. I have had the opportunity to meet lots of people which has allowed me to grow my network and travel to the Nordic Offices and Munich. I have also learned a great deal from very knowledgeable people in the company. This has allowed as of January to move from the Apprenticeship Scheme to EA to two of our Global Heads.

What has surprised you (if anything) about working in AGCS or within the insurance industry?

The thing that has surprised me the most is the scale of the market and how much of that AGCS writes. From an outsider’s perspective, you don’t see much of the Corporate and Specialty space however once joining you see how important it is and the impact it has.

What advice would you give to people considering a career within the insurance industry and AGCS?

Go for it! Initially, I was reluctant as I didn’t know much about the industry however once getting into it I don’t regret my decision at all. The growth Opportunities, People within the market and the work life balance is not something that you get in every industry. Also I would highly recommend AGCS for anyone looking to get into Insurance, from day one here I have felt very valued and its one of the biggest insurers in the world!

This role with help me to achieve my career aspirations as it focuses on my professional development. Not only will I be able to complete two professional qualifications. I also get the opportunity to learn firsthand within a team, where I get to ask lots of questions and have access to help if I need it.

What does a typical day look like for you?

A typical day for me is working from the hours 9-5. I get set tasks from members of my team, who will go it with me and show me how to complete it. Usually these tasks are completing payments, claims reports etc.

What’s been your greatest achievement at AGCS so far?

Whilst at AGCS, I joined to be part of Club60, which is the Charity Committee. I have signed myself up to be the key contact between AGCS and Evelina – our Charity Partner. Taking this role within the committee has been a big achievement for me and I am excited to get planning on the fundraising events to help Evelina for the rest of the year.

  • Clara Cuiney

    Apprentice

    Paris, France

Are you a university graduate or a school leaver? If a university graduate, what did you study?

I am currently in my final year of a master’s in communication and Marketing. After two years of studying international business, I entered a communication school. I first studied communication and marketing in general and then specialized in “influence and reputation” in events. I am happy to be able to do this master as a work & study program, which allows me to combine the theoretical aspect of the courses with the practical aspect of working in a company.

What was important to you when selecting the right employer for you?

When selecting the right employer for me, I looked for an organization that aligned with my values and goals. I wanted an employer that provided opportunities for learning and growth and the Allianz network offers many professional opportunities. In addition, Allianz has a very good reputation. The company culture and sense of collaboration are also very important to me, and I immediately felt during the interview that I would get on well with the team, which I think is essential.

How would you describe your experience within AGCS so far?

So far, I have been very happy with my experience at AGCS. Over the past two years, I have been able to develop and improve my professional and interpersonal skills, as well as gain more responsibility and autonomy in different assignments. Thanks to a good company culture and team spirit, I have been very well integrated, which has allowed me to work with different people and departments, which I find very stimulating and rewarding.

  • Jack Pounder

    Assistant Cargo Underwriter - Apprentice

What’s your favourite thing about being an apprentice at AGCS?

My favourite thing about being an apprentice is the opportunity to get a fantastic qualification as well as learning the skill of becoming an Underwriter by those who have had many years of experience. I felt this was more valuable to me than going to University as the people I am learning from are experienced in the field rather than learning how to become an Underwriter from a textbook. As an apprentice we get opportunities to network and time to help develop as a person but also in the workplace.

What do you enjoy about working in insurance?

I am part of the Marine Cargo team, meaning I get to look at a variety of different things that need to be insured. This is enjoyable as each day will show something new. I also enjoy meeting with brokers to build relationships and also watching how the underwriters win the business that the brokers are offering. The learning of how to do this is most exciting to me. As a young person it is very exciting to travel, dress smartly and work in the city.
