Data Job Profiles

Our Data team creates and delivers meaningful value every day using the latest data tools and methods, our vast pools of data, combined with deep industry expertise. 

Data Analytics Manager

Manages the development of data analytics best practice in the division and drives the embedment across activities within the division. 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Develop a data analytics strategy to strengthen the data and analytics capabilities in the business.
  • Lead data analytics projects and develop a best practice framework across the pricing and portfolio management activities.
  • Broaden the knowledge base of data analytics within the business, including the capability development which addresses changing requirements.
  • Share knowledge on Retail requirements with internal stakeholders for the development of data and technology platform.
  • Collaborate closely with reporting teams to ensure timely and accurate information gathering and analysis.
  • Support Program and Project Managers with completion of reports as required and facilitate cross-project learning, synergies and continual improvement.

 

REQUIREMENTS

  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline (Actuarial, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics).
  • Extensive experience in data science and analytics, general insurance pricing, and predictive modelling (claims, quote conversion, customer retention) with Machine Learning techniques, acquired in a complex, matrixed General Insurance organisation.
  • Highly developed 'first principles' problem-solving skills, combined with a curious and creative mind-set as well as consulting and influencing skills to co-create strategy and valuable analytical solutions with key business stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability in innovative development practices, able to generate data science prototypes rapidly using relevant techniques.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of communicating with clarity, impact and influence.

Data and Reporting Analyst

Leads, designs and implements data and reporting solutions as well as takes primary responsibility for data and reporting requirements gathering and analysis, data discovery and design, data visualisation design. Supports the development and implementation of Allianz BI, data and analytics environment deliverables.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Ensure functional, non-functional, technical and detailed data items as well as test criteria are complete and covered of all requirements.
  • Produce and ensure the quality of all analysis outputs such as detailed business process, data maps, business rules, mapping rules, functional specifications, interface specifications, use cases and test cases.
  • Work closely with the business teams, Senior Business Analyst and Project Manager to schedule analysis activity, milestones and liaise between Technology teams (IT Systems, Business Intelligence) to support the development and implementation of BI (Business Intelligence) and data initiatives deliverables.
  • Develop data visualisation wireframes working with data and reporting consumers.
  • Perform acceptance testing including functional testing of BI and data deliverables.

 

REQUIREMENTS

  • Significant experience in data and reporting requirements gathering and documentation, data analysis and design, developing data visualisation wireframes, and interfacing with business teams on user acceptance testing and training.
  • Experience in gathering documenting business process and rules, source system process, and data flows as well as data mapping for all fields in BI report to support the development and implementation teams.
  • Experience in analysis of data fields required to migrate data, or to develop data feed between internal systems or third-party applications as well as ability to identify data sources for each of these requirements including the design of detailed mappings and logic/transformations.
  • Experience in data requirements analysis for the data tables/DataMart's supporting for the reporting requirements.
  • Experience in preparing test cases, user manuals and user trainings on data and reporting artefacts.
  • Experience in using data management tools (Data Governance, Metadata Management, Data Quality, Master/Reference Data, etc.), SQL, data analysis tools and Business Intelligence reporting tools.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of communicating with audiences at all levels with clarity, impact and influence.

Data Engineer

Builds, runs and supports on-premise and cloud-based data platforms, including batch and real time workloads and data flows through the utilisation of data engineering best practices in line with data management and governance standards, resulting in the delivery of high-quality data solutions for business strategy and operations.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Accountable for the delivery of solutions with in Allianz Australia's Data Engineering team, including the implementation of Integrated Data Platform (IDP) solutions and operations.
  • Engage and collaborate with Information Technology and business stakeholders across divisions to understand data related requirements and oversee the implementation of data technology and platforms, to meet identified enterprise and division specific needs.
  • Participate in the design and implementation activities of the Integrated Data Platform strategy in line with data management and governance controls, and Allianz Australia's strategic priorities and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide technical advice to the Data Engineering team on best practices to drive more effective and efficient use of data platforms.
  • Identify and analyse emerging trends in data technology to provide input and consultation for upcoming development and enhancement initiatives.

 

REQUIREMENTS

  • Significant experience in the delivery of large and complex data solutions in complex hierarchical organisations.
  • Knowledge of event driven workflows, serialisation formats, data modelling and architecting for performance.
  • Demonstrated experience working within Business Intelligence, Data Warehouse and other reporting applications.
  • Knowledge of industry trends and technological developments in data technology and data platform design including but not limited to artificial intelligence, data process automation and big data.
  • Advanced skills in SQL and experience using the following programming languages; Python, Scala or Java.
  • Good knowledge of modern data architectures, including cloud native technologies.
  • Experience using DevOps and DataOps methodologies.
  • Proven experience in data processing frameworks such as Apache Spark and data integration tools.
  • Demonstrated evidence of being self-motivated, results orientated and driven to improve business processes.

Data Scientist

Leads the way in utilising AI and Machine Learning techniques to enable Allianz Australia to deliver better customer outcomes, automate processes and make optimal business decisions which deliver real organisational value.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Analyse large datasets of both structured and unstructured data to discover trends and patterns.
  • Build predictive models and machine-learning algorithms.
  • Deploy modelling solutions into operational practices, applying systematic test plans and Quality Assurance processes to ensure quality and integrity.
  • Mentor, educate and inspire others within the team and across the business around the value of data science methods and best practices.
  • Work collaboratively with broader Data Office teams to ensure robust, scalable and sustainable advanced analytics solutions are delivered that solve business problems.

 

REQUIREMENTS

  • A degree in a highly quantitative field such as Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated experience in a Data Scientist role, applying Data Science Methods to solve real-world business problems within a commercial setting.
  • Experience using data mining, statistical methods and machine-learning techniques.
  • Programming experience across one or more of R, Python and SQL software.
  • Ability to navigate complexity and ambiguity to provide pragmatic commercial solutions which meet stakeholder expectations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of communicating with audiences at all levels with clarity, impact and influence.

Data Visualisation and Insights Analyst

Supports the business intelligence, analytics and data science team through acting as a translator between business and technical teams and utilising visualisation to tell a story with data ensuring that the value of data is unlocked and visible.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Create and present analytics and insights in an easy-to-understand, intuitive manner.
  • Complete explorative analysis and develop visualisations and dashboards utilising relevant tools and approaches.
  • Collaborate with data office functions to scale efforts across teams and support the data scientist and analytics teams in data visualisation and storytelling of proposed data science solutions.
  • Create frameworks and best practices for collecting business data requirements that target the core business use cases and value delivery through prototyping and data visualisation technics.
  • Mentor, educate and inspire others within the team and across the business around the value of data and contribute to organisational data culture uplift.

 

REQUIREMENTS

  • Expert in data visualization and experience using data visualisation tools.
  • Experienced in storytelling and design thinking.
  • Experience with related reporting and analytics tools and query languages such as SQL, python, R, MicroStrategy and Power BI.
  • Domain knowledge to effectively identify value of analytics, ML, AI etc. in business context.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of communicating with audiences at all levels with clarity, impact and influence.
  • Strong acumen in quantitative analysis and structured problem solving.
