Defence Insurance Solicitor – In-House
The In-House Solicitor will manage a portfolio of personal injury defence litigation files from instruction through to court appearance, providing independent advice and guidance to the Claims Department.~crlf~This role will report to the Managing Solicitor.~crlf~~crlf~Person Specification~crlf~The In-House Solicitor will have demonstrated ability in personal injury litigation, and have proven technical, negotiation, communication and team working skills.
• Manage a portfolio of Personal Injury defence litigation claims, running District, Circuit and High Court actions independently ~crlf~• Take instructions from the Claims Department in the management of personal injury cases, providing strategic, appropriate and independent advice ~crlf~• Brief Senior and Junior Counsel, convey instructions to them effectively and to coordinate pre-trial defence conferences ~crlf~• Negotiate claims settlement based on based on agreed targets, of District, Circuit and High Court actions~crlf~• Manage expert witnesses effectively, identify necessary specialities ~crlf~• Effectively manage and reassure witnesses as to fact ~crlf~• Negotiate legal costs~crlf~• Maintain up to date knowledge in legislation and case law and so advise the Company in respect of all such relevant developments~crlf~• Provide independent legal advice to the Company on litigated matters as required~crlf~
Essential ~crlf~• Qualified Solicitor ideally with minimum of 3 years PQE in personal injury litigation~crlf~• Have an in depth knowledge of relevant legislation, case law, practice notes and rules of court including: District, Circuit, High, Court of Appeal and Supreme Court~crlf~• Proficiency in MS Office; Excel, PowerPoint and Word ~crlf~~crlf~Desirable ~crlf~• Prior experience in personal injury defence litigation in General Insurance~crlf~• Experience in the area of medical and professional negligence would be an advantage~crlf~
