Accountant I - Chicago, IL
This position is responsible for supporting all accounting activities associated with outgoing payments for all systems, claims, billing and AP for the North American entities of the AGCS business unit. Monitors the ICOFR controls, reviews and ensures adherence to approval limits accounting policies and monitors processes in support of the Payment & Booking Authority Framework. Completes project work as assigned. Prepares detailed weekly and monthly reports, reviews and releases payments, and maintains monetary approval limits. Accountabilities also include regulatory filing requirements for Unclaimed Property.
##Perform accounting functions as assigned, including but not limited to, reporting out of SAP and other payment processing systems. ~crlf~##Maintain monetary authority approval limits for Accounts Payable systems. ~crlf~##Maintain the booking and release authority limits in Service Now FTM and SAP. ~crlf~##Liaison between other departments and Accounts Payable with regards to regulatory details for Unclaimed Property reporting.~crlf~##Contribute to department and organization on special projects assigned by Management.~crlf~##Prepare/analyze monthly expense bookings and reclass journal entries for the North American entities. ~crlf~##Monitor cash reconciliations for return payments.~crlf~##Monthly reconciliations and unclaimed property reporting and filing.~crlf~~crlf~
##Bachelor’s Degree with an emphasis in Accounting, Finance or Business;~crlf~##At least 1 year of related Insurance experience;~crlf~##Minimum of 1 year of experience with SAP;~crlf~##Excellent Excel skills including large files and multiple functions;~crlf~##Unclaimed Property Experience with state filings;~crlf~##Accounts Payable processing requirements, W-9, 1099 and expense allocations;~crlf~##Solid computer literacy, with advanced proficiency in Excel and knowledge of MS Office software (e.g., Word and PowerPoint);~crlf~##Accounting technical knowledge to accurately record accounting transactions;~crlf~##Advanced knowledge of Accounts Payable;~crlf~##Knowledge of Unclaimed Property/Escheat;~crlf~##Excellent verbal, written communication and interpersonal skills~crlf~##Ability to work independently and as part of a team;~crlf~##Ability to take on new tasks with a high level of difficulty;~crlf~##Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines;~crlf~##Ability to collaborate with others, adapt to change and accept challenging assignments; and~crlf~##Strong organizational and analytical skills.~crlf~~crlf~
