JOB PURPOSE/ROLE


Based in Munich and by reporting to the Head of Global Standards and Quality, you will monitor and continuously improve the data quality of the insurance technical balance sheet and P&L globally. You will identify the root cause of data quality issues and develop a sustainable remediation. Furthermore, you will create and ensure efficient and compliant workflows to guarantee high quality by considering all relevant parameters for transactions and processes. By supporting local teams in managing and performing their accounting transactions you support the full automation of the technical closing process. You proactively contribute to projects and process improvement initiatives at a global level.
 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES


In this role you will….


•    Ensure that all IFRS, GAAP and Statutory closing and reporting tasks (e.g. annual report, reporting to regulatory authorities, NAIC reporting, other internal/external reporting requirements) related to own area of responsibility are accurate and timely on a global basis 
•    Complete assigned postings, Journal Entries and Account reconciliations on a periodic basis; Reconcile and resolve intercompany transactions within the affiliated company group
•    Take care of monthly legal entity close submission activities, including posting of accruals, manual adjustments and other accounting transactions
•    Monitors and continuously improves the data quality of the insurance technical balance sheet and P&L globally 
•    Clearly communicate impacts and actions to relevant stakeholders. Implement and refine the technical accounting process for Solvency 2 and IFRS17
•    Draft standards to improve quality as well as active contribution in improving and implementing global operation cycles, processes and workflows as well as the implementation of global policies and procedures
•    Manage relationship and show high customer focus in dealing with internal and external stakeholders (Business units, Group Accounting, auditors, tax authorities, public authorities etc.)

 

KEY REQUIREMENTS/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE


•    Excellent tertiary qualification (ideally Master), preferably in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Accounting or qualified by experience in related discipline
•    Minimum of 3-5 years of professional experience in P&C (re-)insurance accounting, financial audit, controlling or similar financial area
•    Deep Understanding in insurance financial statements and their performance measurement including drivers
•    Proven understanding of standard accounting (IAS/IFRS 17, Solvency 2 and other local GAAP) in insurance and reinsurance.
•    Demonstrated successful execution of account reconciliations
•    Experience as active user of SAP BW and preferably SAP FI. Demonstrated efficient use of Excel and/or Access to quickly analyze data and drawing the right conclusions
•    Ability to handle complex processes (closing, reporting, finance operations) including understanding of data flows
•    Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills to effectively analyze data and convey messages in a winning fashion
•    Fluent German and English in verbal and written form
