As a Senior Data Scientist, you will be part of a team of data science and engineering experts, driving the transformation programs across the global organization, with a particular focus on advanced analytics. Our goal is to build and enhance the capabilities required to be the insurer of choice for our target segments. In this role you will be responsible for interacting with business functions in identifying opportunities for advanced analytics solutions with business impact and leading the development and deployment of models into production. You will collaborate across all functions with respect to data and technology to ensure a standard delivery of services, products and capabilities that foster profitable growth for Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty (AGCS).

Key Responsibilities

 

What You’ll Do: 
• Independently drive and lead data science projects with our business functions along the entire project lifecycle, from ideation and data analysis, proof-of-concept, implementation, validation, and integration to hand-over to the respective functions.
• Shape the future of data science at AGCS by developing and promoting best practices and by mentoring and advising local teams on how to solve data and technical challenges.
• Work together with other data scientists to increase the data literacy across AGCS by demonstrating hands-on the measurable effect of advanced analytics.
• Establish relationships with business functions to help building up a data science project pipeline contributing to a comprehensive landscape of analytical solutions for AGCS.
• Investigate new data sources and technologies and collaborate with other Allianz Group functions and Operating Entities to adopt state-of-the-art technology.
 

Key Requirements/Skills/Experience

 

• M.Sc. or Ph.D. in mathematics, statistics, physics, computer science or similar professional experience with focus on data science or applied statistical methods.
• At least 3 years of professional experience in developing advanced analytics solutions in a business context, from requirements engineering to production deployment.
• Extensive programming experience in Python is required.
• Work experience with agile frameworks is a plus.
• Experience with distributed computing (e.g., Spark, Hadoop) or software development practices (e.g., CI/CD) is a plus.
• Actuarial science or insurance background is a plus.
• Willingness to think out-of-the box, apply creative thinking and strong analytical and problem-solving skills to transform business problems in quantitative questions to be answered with data and advanced analytics.
• Intercultural sensitivity and experience in working in a fast-paced, dynamical, and international environment. 
• Ability to communicate complex quantitative analysis in a clear and precise manner to audiences from different departments and at different levels.
• Fluency in English is required, additional languages are a plus.
