Job Purpose/Role

As a Data Engineer, you will be working with data experts and other team, focused on enabling the transformation programs across the global organization, with a particular focus on our data and analytics. Our goal is to build and enhance the Data capabilities required for our business functions/segments. In this role you will be responsible for interacting with business functions, colleagues in IT products, Data office and Business function to build, enhance and maintain reliable and performant data pipelines to supply our analytical solutions and dashboards. You will collaborate across all functions with respect to data and technology to ensure a standard delivery of services, products and capabilities that foster profitable growth for AGCS.

 

Responsibilities

 

In this role you will…

 

•    Build data pipelines for holistic solutions to bring together all AGCS’ data from various systems with different granularity to create a data environment which can be used for analytics and further applications, e.g., dashboards and reports.
•    Develop concepts and solutions for critical applications, systems, etc. and design/ procedure and take part in global project/product teams.
•    Program / code development according to specifications provided by the System Architect for enhancements and changes. 
•    Work on integration and harmonization of external data sources to augment AGCS internal data
•    Collaborate with business experts to understand our data, how it is generated and can be utilized
•    Investigate new data technologies and collaborate with other Allianz Group functions and Operating 
•    Ready to adopt state-of-the-art technology in accordance with Group standards
•    Develop and define a wide-range of documentation, for example presentations, technical designs/guidelines, functional feature specifications, system requirements, etc.
•    Maintain documentation on a regular basis and be accountable for the quality and completeness
•    Communicate (and/or train as necessary) on documentation content
•    Investigate IT procedures, standards and/or guidelines (including AGCS as well as Group IT standards)
•    Evaluate existing systems/processes
•    Conduct analysis on whether IT policies/standards are being followed, follow up and apply in cases where necessary
•    Report to IT management on results
•    Perform peer reviews for the code quality and ensure the compliance to all standards and guidelines for software programming
•    Proactively work and coordinate with relevant stakeholders (within IT, the business, strategic vendors / outsource partners, among others) to deliver consultancy and service.
•    Coordinate with other functions as necessary.


To be successful in the role:

 

You will have….

 

•    Bachelor’s degree in relevant fields such as IT, Computer Science or equivalent work experience
•    Strong expertise in Python, especially handling large datasets with PySpark.
•    Proven history of data model design and implementation.
•    Basic knowledge in machine learning / data science concepts is a plus.
•    Experience in working with SQL.
•    Excellent problem solving and analytical skills and likes to get hands on digging into data issues.
•    Strong skills in data visualization and interpretation.
•    Independent and self-directed individual that thrives when faced with challenge.
•    Knowledge in Software Engineering principles (test driven design, automated testing, clean coding) is a plus.
•    Experience in working with DevOps and Agile set-up using tool set like Jenkin, Git, etc.
•    Experience in managing projects/tasks in a global environment
•    Intercultural skills and ability to work internationally and communicate remotely with teams across numerous locations    
•    Progressive thinking with an openness to change and ability to innovate as well as a great willingness to learn
•    Fluency in English is required, additional languages are a plus.
