We are looking for a Compliance Governance Specialist (m/f/d) - Economic Sanctions, based in Munich.
Your Team
The Global Compliance Team manages the Compliance Programmes of the Company whilst keeping abreast of rapidly developing regulatory requirements, business models and stakeholder interests across multiple jurisdictions. As part of the Global Compliance Team, the Compliance Assurance team is responsible for ensuring the Compliance Programmes are both adequately structured and effective.
The Impact You Will Have
In this role, you will be reporting to the Compliance Assurance Programme Manager with matrix reporting to the Head of the Sanctions unit. You will perform Economic Sanctions assessments for business referrals and contribute to the assurance actives of the Compliance function with a specific focus on Economic Sanctions.
Some of your specific responsibilities could include:
- Perform Economic Sanctions assessment for business referrals and provide support and guidance to the various business stakeholders. This will involve analysing sanctions laws and regulations, assessing the exposure and providing appropriate guidance, with regular discussions with the Economic Sanctions Unit and stakeholders.
- Bringing together the expertise of the Assurance team and the Economic Sanctions Unit to improve the adequacy and effectiveness of sanctions processes.
- Maintain the sanctions controls catalogue and perform and/or oversee the testing of such controls under the Integrated Risk and Control framework, working closely with the Risk function, proposing remediation action to the stakeholders and ensuring proper documentation of control descriptions and testing.
- Applying sanctions expertise in sanctions related discussions and assessments, including Compliance Reviews, Targeted Reviews, Global Compliance Risk Assessments, Risk and Maturity Assessment and being the main liaison for all sanctions related audit discussions.
What You’ll Bring to the Role
- University Degree in Law - preferably qualified lawyer
- 3 to 5 years of experience in Sanctions Compliance within the insurance industry
- Excellent skills in legal analysis and assessment
- Good understanding of internal controls system, processes and methodology
- Good understanding of the insurance/reinsurance business
- Excellent interpersonal, strong communication and presentation skills, ideally with training experience
- Exposure to stakeholder management preferably in a global set-up
- Ability to take initiative and resolve problems with a high degree of autonomy
- Ability steer and manage topics/initiatives with a cross-functional view
- Familiarity with database workflow tools
- Fluent English skills are required, German skills would be beneficial
