We are looking for an Audit Principal (m/f/d), based in Munich.

The Impact You Will Have 
As Audit Principal, you’ll work as part of an international team with extensive audit experience and a broad knowledge of the firm. You will be responsible for delivering a wide range of assignments with a focus specific functions like Operations, Underwriting and Sales, Claims, Finance, Risk and Compliance. This includes identifying business risks at an early stage and advising management on how to improve the control environment. You will be managing large scale and cross-functional audit engagements from planning to the follow-up. This includes mentoring and training to others in the team. You will enjoy a wide variety of work in terms of nature and scope, including audits focused on operational, financial or regulatory risks. You will also have the opportunity to engage with different clients from across all areas of our global firm, remotely or onsite.

 

Some of your specific responsibilities could include:

  • Plan and lead complex audit assignments, supervise audit projects, define risk-based audit areas, audit business transactions, workflows, processes, and control systems
  • Determine deficiencies and vulnerabilities to be remedied, formulate, and agree proposals for solution with different levels of management
  • Ensure follow up and that the audit recommendations are implemented adequately by the auditee.
  • Develop audit programs to effectively test the design and operational effectiveness of the systems of internal controls.
  • Initiate improvements of workflows, processes, and control systems and promote best practice sharing
  • Supervise individual contributors during assigned engagements including training and coaching
  • Plan and implement technical trainings and information (team/peer) as well as assist the Management Team in the development of auditors
  • Take responsibility for the relationship with the clients and become a recognized expert and partner to the business


What You’ll Bring to the Role

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in internal/external audit and/ or risk management. 
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the insurance industry, preferred in an Underwriting or Claims function
  • Strong intellectual and analytical skills and a very good understanding of processes, structures, and the regulatory environment.
  • Ability to express ideas and messages clearly to the audience / level of management, both written and verbally. Ability to “sell” an improvised or prepared audience a winning story
  • Up to 25% travel including global travel
