For Allianz SE Reinsurance Branch Asia Pacific, we are looking for motivated fresh graduates to undertake several different projects and placements under the Allianz Re Management Programme, with a strong focus in the Finance area. The Management Programme equips you with the fundamental knowledge of reinsurance and prepares you to be a future leader of the industry. You will work with a supportive and diverse group of people who will help you realize your ideas and reach your potential. You will also be given the opportunity to participate in a number of personal development activities.

About the Program

During the 2-years program, you are expected to complete several placements in key departments – Finance (Reinsurance Accounting, Financial Reporting, Risk, Controlling and L&H Actuarial), Underwriting (Property & Casualty, Agriculture, Life & Health), and Client Management. You will be working in a dynamic international environment having an opportunity for regular exchange with colleagues in Munich and other Allianz Re locations. Furthermore, the program will provide a chance for an international job rotation, being a part of the Munich team for several months.

 

Finance (18 months)

The Finance Department is a very important part of the value chain, with multiple components ranging from Accounting, Reserving, Planning & Controlling to Financial Reporting and Risk. You will learn how posting payment flows and having the right figures for reporting and disclosure are of essential importance for every company. The opportunity to work with our Reinsurance Accounting department and Financial Reporting & Treasury team will allow you to gain access to the multitude of financial expertise and processes. Furthermore, you would be trained to understand the financial, operational and business risks reinsurance company has. Alternatively, you could also spend time with the Reserving and Controlling functions. You will be an integral part of the Finance team and will experience the innovation, digitalization and other topics Finance is currently facing such as implementation of new accounting standards for insurance IFRS 17, automation and simplification of accounting workflows or modelling and disclosure of emerging risks such an climate change etc.

 

Underwriting & Client Management (6 months)

Underwriting is one of the key foundations of Allianz SE Reinsurance, a company that takes pride in technical excellence. You will learn how reinsurance treaties are underwritten by accessing the risk of original policies, drawing up and analysing contractual texts in agreement before sign-off, developing strategies on providing better reinsurance services and solutions to our customers, and calculating prices for reinsurance coverage.
 
The opportunity to work with the client management team will help you gain the knowledge on how to manage the overall business relationships with clients and brokers, access our clients’ individual risk situation, produce tailor-made solutions based on the specific challenges involved, as well as develop strategy for the Asia Pacific region. You will be trained to be the “face” of the company to the reinsurance marketplace. You will also get the opportunity to work together with the various other expert teams of Allianz Re.

Key Qualifications

  • (Expected) to graduate with a Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree in 2021 or 2022 in a related field, e.g. Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, etc. 
  • A strong desire to learn the ropes in preparation for a career in the reinsurance industry. 
  • Proactive, independent, reliable and self-motivated. 
  • Resilient, adaptable and comfortable in working under pressure and uncertainty. 
  • Proven intellectual and analytical ability, as demonstrated by an outstanding academic track record or similar achievement. 
  • Demonstrated adaptability, initiative and leadership qualities, e.g. co-curricular activities, previous internships, military service, etc. 
  • Culturally savvy with broad international exposure, ideally from an experience aboard, e.g. exchange semester, overseas internship experience or similar.
  • Open for international exchange and mobile.
  • Very strong knowledge of MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel). 
  • Experience using statistical computer languages, packages and business intelligence tools to manipulate and prepare data is a plus.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities, including demonstrated tenacity at mining data to discover root causes of results is a plus.
  • Knowledge or prior experience in an insurance-related company is advantageous, but not mandatory. 
  • Fluency in English is mandatory, other Asian languages considered a plus. 
  • Must be enrolled in a local university or hold the necessary documents to work in Singapore.
