Role & responsibilities


  • Responsible for following all markets and asset-classes, though on a day-by-day basis will monitor the orders of only a select few. These rotate among traders for cross-training purposes.
  • Must closely monitor orders in the markets and work with fund managers on any special instructions.
  • Ability to work long hours, balance & prioritize; be an ace of multi-tasking, and able to work accurate in a high-stress & fast paced environment.
  • Demonstrate high degree of accuracy in their work.
  • Strong analytical, decision-making, and risk management skills as well as solid understanding of portfolio management theory and practice.
  • Need forward-thinking & results oriented mentality.
  • Handles processing of IPO’s and end of day collection of all documentation for compliance records.
  • Respond in a timely manner to compliance enquiries.
  • Responsible for pre-placement analysis of which brokers are likely to provide the best possible execution.
  • Uses Bloomberg AIM (The Asset & Investment Manager) extensively and know main functionality.
  • Ability to negotiate well with brokers if we receive a sub-standard execution, and at the same time keep the relationship professional. 
  • Continually emphasize team spirit and help other traders by cross-checking order blotters & IB chats for clarity and correctness.
  • Highly reliable and a willingness to take ownership.
  • Keep very abreast of IPO’s and other ECM deals, sharing this information with the investment team, and work with brokers on deals we’re interested in.
  • Must solve with brokers on settlement problems.
  • Excellent communication skills as well as market expertise to support the needs of PMs and other stake holders in the whole investment process chain (PM to Settlements).
  • Work with product development colleagues on client queries and pitches like RFP’s.
  • Monitor changes in regulatory frameworks as well as internal requirements and structure trading processes accordingly.
  • Broad knowledge of existing trading / trade related & regulatory landscape.
  • Ability to understand derivatives & fixed income price modelling.
  • Savvy user of Bloomberg, as well as the whole suite of MS Office, & have appetite to learn new systems and keep abreast of cutting-edge technologies.
  • Participate in consultancy of all equity related matters, focusing on trading systems, facilitation & RFQE executions, algorithmic tools, market dynamics, execution venues, and TCA applications.
  • Ability to see trading and execution related projects through from start to finish.
  • Seeks new ways to streamline existing processes and workflows, as well as innovating new, and improving existing tools.


Experience / Qualifications and Skills


Preferred Profile & Requirements:

  • 5-10 years relevant trading experience
  • A star performer yet someone who fully appreciates the importance of always being a team player
  • Fluent English and proficiency in another Asian language would be helpful
  • Strong technical (Python Matplotlib, Python Pandas, SQL, VBA, Bloomberg BQL) & analytical skills a strong advantage
  • SFC Licensed Representative in minimum of
  1. Type 1 - Dealing in Securities
  2. Type 2 - Dealing in Futures Contracts
  3. Type 9 - Asset Management
  • Strongly prefer candidates already in Hong Kong with permanent residency
