We are looking for you!  We are currently seeking a Product Specialist responsible for generating client value by being the interface between Portfolio Management and Distribution as well as being active in Distribution activities.  This person should possess both excellent product knowledge and investment strategy insights, translated into clear messages persuade clients and contribute to sales revenue generation.  The role will be based in San Francisco.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Works closely with the investment teams to serve as an internal and external advocate for equity strategies with a focus on the thematic strategies managed out of Europe and San Francisco.
  • Ability to build expert knowledge of products, investment process, philosophy and AllianzGI’s investment style and to communicate this to sales teams and to present to distribution partners.
  • Acts as the external voice of the respective investment team and is the interface between investment professionals and the sales and marketing professionals (e.g. investment related content for marketing purposes). Provides training to educate the sales force in the required technical details to present the investment strategy to clients.
  • Originates product information that meets typical requirements of the different client groups (retail and institutional) with focus on the investment process, performance explanation, portfolio holdings and illustration of the investment case.
  • Actively writes and articulates portfolio relevant commentaries and original content to support the positioning of the products. Leads the external and internal communication of investment related content for marketing purposes.
  • Substitutes for the fund manager at marketing events, as well as client and consultant meetings.
  • Is involved in the RFP process, delivering the required portfolio and investment strategy-related content to the RFP team and client service entities.
  • Stays abreast with the strategy's performance in context to relevant competitor products and can explain performance scenarios relative to the market environment and peers.
  • Actively participates in product development initiatives

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Economics, Finance or similar environment. 
  • CFA or similar qualification is preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years of professional experience in portfolio management or analyst role, retail or institutional sales, product management or a high end client service role
  • Ideally specific experience in the asset class related to position, here Equities (Global/Technology sector/Thematic).
  • Good knowledge of sustainable investing approaches appreciated
  • Excellent communication skills and are able to tailor a message for a diverse range of audiences and to clearly articulate investment content.
  • Proven ability to work cross-functionally, cross-regionally, and cross-culturally in a large organization.
  • Strong communication and written skills. Additional language skills (such as German, Mandarin, Japanese) appreciated.
  • Act as a coach and influencer with intellectual and cultural curiosity, who thrives in a collegiate environment.
  • Shows ambition and has an organized personality with the ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
  • Self-starter and have a strong can-do attitude with internal and external clients and responsive to their needs.
  • Proficiency in MS PowerPoint, Word, Excel
  • Willingness to travel
