This position reports to Head of Corporate Actuarial, Americas and has direct visibility to executive level business leaders. We are looking for an innovative individual with superior communication, analytical, and problem solving skills.  Will undertake a wide variety of work and provide highly valued actuarial support to all areas across the Americas region.

A DAY IN THE LIFE

You will: 

  • Perform premium and loss and LAE claim reserve reviews to assess the quality of relevant balance sheet items for various reporting standards such as statutory, IFRS and Solvency II.
  • Serve as technical expert in using actuarial techniques in order to both implement and to mentor team members around the world.
  • Be a strategic business partner by driving the business through deliberate and thoughtful information sharing across departments using an actuarial perspective.
  • Promote, facilitate, and drive global projects with diverse teams across the world by working remotely and in person through occasional travel.
  • Support the global harmonization of the actuarial function.
  • Coordinate larger activities and project work while supervising and providing guidance to more junior team members.

 

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

  • Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Finance, Economics or related field or equivalent combination of work and education experience
  • 3-5 years of progressively more responsible actuarial experience in property and causality insurance
  • Prior experience and solid knowledge of actuarial techniques and standards, as well as other business operations including finance, underwriting, claims, sales, etc
  • Associate (“ACAS”) Casualty Actuarial Society OR in process of pursing ACAS designation required.
  • Advanced computing and programming skills required; ResQ a plus
  • Self-starter who can make project proposals and lead teams in line with company strategy
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills for multi-level matrix interaction
  • Experience working in a global, multicultural, matrix organization preferred
