at Allianz and reached €12.4bn of assets under management by the end of June 2022. The debt program targets pan-European opportunities with a focus on floating and fixed-rate maturities ranging from 3 to 20 years. The investment portfolio is diversified both geographically and with respect to asset classes covering offices, student housing, logistics, retail, hotel and multi-family for core, core plus, value add and construction strategies.

 

This is a unique opportunity to join in as an Associate the very dynamic and international Debt Origination team located in Paris, France, covering top-tier sponsors (e.g. REITS, Private Equity funds, Real Estate Asset Managers) throughout continental Europe and the United Kingdom and providing tailored-made financing solutions ranging from EUR 100mn to EUR 500mn for stabilized or transitional/ground-up developments transactions.

 

Position Summary:

 

The suitable candidate will play an important role in the Paris Debt Team’s pan-European loan origination efforts by analyzing and executing real estate mortgage loans, jointly with a senior member of the team, on both internal and external duties, from first discussions with clients down to signing and closing of the transactions.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Financial and cash flow modeling to assess and quantify key risks in new real estate finance opportunities.
  • Using of internal models to assess loan ratings.
  • Preparing committee papers and participating in to the debt investment committee.
  • Drafting appropriately structured term sheets and negotiating with borrowers.
  • Working with internal and external legal counsel to negotiate legal documentation.
  • Performing property (including a strong focus on ESG), legal and tax due diligence with internal experts and external advisors.
  • Ensuring smooth handover to the Loan Asset Management team

 

Essential Candidate Requirements:

  • 3-5 years relevant experience in commercial real estate finance including development finance.
  • Demonstrated understanding of commercial real estate valuation and discounted cash flow analysis.
  • Experience in structuring and documentation of real estate loans.
  • Results orientated with the ability to work independently and under time pressure when necessary, requiring strong organizational and prioritization skills
  • Excellent communication skills (both oral and written English) and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong quantitative and computer skills.
  • Fluency in written and spoken 2nd European language (eg German, French, Spanish or Italian) is a bonus. Speaking French is not compulsory for this position.
