Job Purpose / Role

The Internal Audit department´s mission is to provide AllianzAM´s entities with independent, risk oriented and objective review and consulting services to help improve business operations. The US Internal Audit team is based in New York and Newport Beach and is part of the Global Internal Audit team with additional presence in Munich, Frankfurt and Hong Kong. As a member of the US Internal Audit team, you will perform audits in various locations throughout the United States and also provide support to the Internal Audit teams in Europe and Asia.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain relationships as key audit partner with business area management to effectively provide audit support and internal controls expertise.
  • Conduct operational / financial and integrated audits as well as consulting services designed to assess and improve operations within the entire Asset Management business.
  • Coach more junior staff members.
  • Lead audit projects and coordinate / manage all aspects of an audit: planning, fieldwork, report writing and presentation of results to audit management and senior business management.
  • Develop the audit work programs and conduct audit fieldwork, including documenting processes and procedures, establishing testing approach, reviewing and analyzing documentation, and identifying and documenting process and control issues.
  • Formulate clear and concise audit findings, reflecting deficiencies identified during audit fieldwork, related risk impact and suggestions on practical recommendations to mitigate risk.
  • Conduct an annual audit risk assessment for operational entities, deriving recommendations for the subsequent year´s annual audit plan and provide meaningful inputs and ideas to the regional head.
  • Perform follow-up activities to evaluate the sufficiency and timeliness of management responses and corrective action taken in response to audit recommendations.
  • Contribute ideas that strengthen internal audit practices and other risk / control efforts.
  • Travel - about 25-30% per annum is expected.

 

Key Requirements / Skills / Experience

  • 8+ years of experience in internal auditing in Financial Services with experience in Investment Management processes (Portfolio Management, Trading, Portfolio Risk Management, Middle Office) and / or specific experience in financials models, portfolio risk models or illiquid securities / complex products / derivates pricing.
  • Strong quantitative knowledge without internal audit experience will be considered. 
  • Experience conducting integrated operational audits and / or reviewing IT application controls is preferred.
  • Superior analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Intercultural skills and sensitivities necessary to work effectively in global organizations.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to challenge.
  • Ability to deal effectively with all levels of management and staff.
  • Outstanding organizational and time management skills.
  • Experience in managing multiple assignments and projects with varying deadlines successfully is essential.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products.

 

Education and / or Certifications

  • Bachelor degree in economics, finance, math, statistics or related field required.
  • CIA, CFA, FRM, CISA, MBA or CPA preffered.
  • Experience with Illiquid Alternatives is a plus.
