Job Purpose/Role

  • Implement global strategy for ART sub-LoB;
  • Subject Matter Expert responsible for ART sub-LoB global underwriting results including market management and underwriting;
  • Develop cross sell opportunities with AGCS;
  • Develop innovative and complex solutions in a rapidly changing environment; and
  • Professional thought leader in risk transfer solutions.


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute global ART strategy for sub-LoB Underwriting and Business Development to drive profitable growth.
  • Identify market opportunities, including potential target markets, segments and clients.
  • Develop and implement strategic, global market management tools.
  • Develop and implement global guidelines for improved underwriting efficiency and accuracy.
  • Management responsibility for sub-Lob underwriting results.
  • Lead new product development opportunities in ART.
  • Interface into Allianz group products (leverage strong Allianz brand).
  • Positively represent ART internally within the AGCS and Allianz Group, and externally to the market.
  • Proactively build long term relationships with key client and broker contacts.
  • Proactively develop relationships with other functions, particularly those within policy life cycle, including Underwriting, ARC, Claims, and Operations.
  • Develop and maintain a current and comprehensive client and industry segment insight.
  • Deliver relevant market and competitor insight to the business.
  • Develop, implement and broadcast operational measurements, KPIs and SLAs to measure, steer and improve business globally and locally.


Key Requirements/Skills/Experience

  • 5 + years of "alternative" market experience;
  • 5 + years of client facing experience with evidence of building and fostering relationships;
  • Strong recognition with external global players and clients in the insurance markets;
  • Extensive global markets exposure;
  • Proven track record as lead underwriter with comprehensive quantitative skills;
  • Transactional expertise in negotiating, structuring and executing complex insurance and other financial transactions;
  • Ability to define segmentation and client differentiation strategies;
  • Ability to define clear value proposition;
  • Ability to implement tools and methodologies to develop market, competitor, and client insight;
  • Ability to independently structure and model deals;
  • Ability to utilize experience to implement best practices in channel management;
  • Ability to develop innovative solutions in a rapidly changing environment;
  • Ability to communicate strategies to address market trends or changes in the business environment;
  • Ability to develop and positively influence key, strategic position holders across locations and functions;
  • In depth knowledge of how own discipline contributes to ART and AGCS and excellent understanding of commercial environment;
  • Ability to express ideas and messages clearly, both written and verbally;
  • Skilled negotiation internally and externally at senior levels; and
  • University degree/professional designation in one or more of the following areas: Actuarial, Insurance,
  • Underwriting, Finance or Legal.
