Allianz Real Estate of America (“AREoA”) is seeking a (Senior) Associate/Manager Investment Planning & Controlling  with a minimum of 3 years of finance experience. The position, based in Midtown Manhattan, will report to the Head of Finance.


AREoA is the U.S. subsidiary of Allianz Real Estate (“ARE”), the captive real estate investment and asset manager serving the global Allianz Group companies. ARE has assets under management of approximately $90.0 billion and has approximately 485 employees around the globe with subsidiaries in Germany, France, Switzerland, Italy, the U.S. and the Asia/Pacific Region.


AREoA makes equity and debt investments in the top 50 metropolitan areas in the U.S. and manages an existing portfolio of direct equity holdings, joint ventures, fund investments and commercial mortgage loans aggregating approximately $23.0 billion. Annual debt investments include approximately 40-50 commercial mortgage loans totaling $2.5 billion.


What you do:

  • Active management of Allianz US investment structures for the growing US real estate portfolio (fund and Joint Venture) on behalf of our international investors during the whole investment life-cycle (buy-manage-sell)
  • Controlling of investment structures including the supervision of external service providers, cash/capital management and collaboration with auditors and tax advisors
  • Provision of investment data and returns into various financial (investor) reports including analysis and proper presentation of the output
  • Preparation of planning data and forecasts for US investment structures/companies by using sound modelling techniques and ensure the reliability, the completeness and the consistency of the planning data
  • Interface between internal asset- and investment management, external fund managers, co-investment partners and various Allianz internal stakeholders
  • Support in the acquisition phase of new US investments, such as negotiation of reporting requirements, specific accounting related requests, funding / capital calls, set up of the investments / structures and processes with internal and external counterparties
  • Provide support in the ongoing development of the global finance area
  • Active participation in the continuous improvement of the finance area, in particular:
    Further development and implementation of effective controlling tools, methods and procedures as well as transformational and IT projects


What you bring:

  • Bachelor or Master Degree in finance and/or real estate (focus on controlling)
  • Minimum 1 years’ experience in a comparable position, ideally related to US real estate fund and Joint Venture investments
  • Sound knowledge of IFRS/US GAAP (basics of German GAAP are helpful)
  • Experience and know-how of US REIT structures and related tax topics
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office products, in particular Excel
  • Spoken and written English skills at negotiation level are a prerequisite.
  • 2nd language is appreciated, in particular German
  • Global team player with outstanding analytical and conceptual skills striving to get things done
  • Strong communication skills and persuasive power
