Allianz Real Estate of America (“AREoA”) is seeking a Sr Analyst - Asset Management with a minimum of 3 to 4 years of real estate experience. The position, based in Midtown Manhattan, will report to the Head of Asset Management.


AREoA is the U.S. subsidiary of Allianz Real Estate (“ARE”), the captive real estate investment and asset manager serving the global Allianz Group companies. ARE has assets under management of approximately $90.0 billion and has approximately 485 employees around the globe with subsidiaries in Germany, France, Switzerland, Italy, the U.S. and the Asia/Pacific Region.


AREoA makes equity and debt investments in the top 50 metropolitan areas in the U.S. and manages an existing portfolio of direct equity holdings, joint ventures, fund investments and commercial mortgage loans aggregating approximately $23.0 billion. Annual debt investments include approximately 40-50 commercial mortgage loans totaling $2.5 billion.


What you do:

The candidate will report to the Head of Asset Management and will be responsible for working closely with the senior members of the team on all new and existing equity investments in the US equity portfolio. The candidate will be involved on a day-to-day basis with members of the Asset Management team as well as Risk & Portfolio, Acquisitions and Finance to analyze the performance of each asset.  The candidate will be responsible for creating financial models to evaluate strategic decisions for each investments including capital investment, disposition, and financing or re-financing analyses, and will assist senior members of the team on all budgeting and annual planning.  The candidate will work directly with joint venture partners to analyze capital projects, new leases, measure performance against underwriting, and monitor monthly and quarterly reporting.   The candidate will be required to prepare portions of Investment Committee memos and present to senior managers of the Global Allianz Real Estate team.  Special projects will frequently be part of the responsibility of the Senior Associate.  Excellent analytical skills, strong presentation skills, collaborative work style and excellent communication skills are required.  The position also includes travel.  The candidate will be responsible for all aspects of asset management, as well as working closely with multiple internal teams within Allianz Real Estate. 


What you bring:

  • 3-4 years of commercial real estate advisory and/or real estate finance experience, with institutional investors.
  • Strategic thinker who approaches asset management with a focus on creating and maintaining value across a portfolio.
  • Advanced underwriting and financial modeling skills. Candidate will also be attuned to risk management, financial reporting, and legal/regulatory compliance issues.
  • Analytical rigor and ability to present alternatives to drive value for individual investments as well as of the overall portfolio.
  • Strong computer skills, including the Microsoft Suite of products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) as well as high proficiency in Argus.
  • Excellent oral and written skills; ability to present clearly to senior management across external and internal groups.
  • Familiar with US real estate markets and exposure to highly structured and complex investment vehicles.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.  Ability to inspire trust and collaborative approach to work.
  • Attention to detail with superior organizational skills. Excellent time management skills and ability to deliver top quality work on a tight time schedule.
  • Ability to multi-task and work within an entrepreneurial team; comfortable with ambiguity and able to evolve with changing demands.
  • Strong integrity and professionalism. Transparent and acts in a manner that is best for the overall organization.
  • MBA required.
