What you do:

This position has full ownership and accountability for market and competitive intelligence relating to the registered index linked annuity (RILA) industry. This position also contributes to and helps with the maintenance of our internal market intelligence database, currently in SharePoint. This position also spends 15% of their time preparing for and interacting with sales teams, educating on the RILA marketplace, gathering input for new products, enhancements and services and building this value added capability for our internal and external sales partners. In addition to these accountabilities and activities, this individual will also proactively monitor, research and analyze marketplace and competitor activities from various sources and disseminate intelligence on emerging trends, market conditions and the competitive environment. This individual will serve as a subject matter expert to support strategic initiatives and will impart knowledge to key stakeholders, such as our Senior Leadership Group, Distribution, Product Innovation and other business partners. Insights provided by the market and competitive analysis, as well as the close interaction with our sales partners will help direct product development, strategic planning and decision making.

 

  • Oversee the market and competitive intelligence function for the Registered Index Linked Annuity (RILA) line of business.
  • Contribute to and help maintaining our internal database for market and competitive intelligence, including competitor profiles detailing their products, product pricing, company strategies, and competitor strengths and weaknesses
  • Develop and present competitive intelligence and market trend information to Independent Marketing Organizations (IMOs/FMOs), Broker Dealers, Marketers, Registered Reps and Insurance Agents; this may require occasional travel
  • Participate on the product development team(s) and communicate current trends, new competitor products/enhancements and industry data to support product development initiatives. Identify key opportunities and risks within the RILA marketplace; communicate regularly to executive/senior leadership and other applicable business units
  • Regularly engage with key internal and external personnel to drive fair and unbiased presentation and use of competitive intelligence data. Demonstrate strategic thinking, ability to work on multiple projects with conflicting deadlines, and comfortably work with cross-functional partners at all levels within the organization
  • Collaborate with product development, new markets, sales and marketing teams and support areas to identify and fulfill their market and competitive intelligence needs to support strategic planning and decision making efforts
  • Respond to ad hoc requests, from multiple business units, for market research, competitive positioning, fact finding, etc.

 

What you bring:

 

  • 8+ years of experience required: Experience in the financial services industry and/or competitive intelligence and at gathering, analyzing and interpreting marketplace information
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Effective communicator
  • Experience serving on cross-functional teams throughout an organization
  • Highly self-motivated and self-managed
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience preferred
