What you do:

The AIM Associate, Allianz Life Ventures is a critical position responsible for assisting the Allianz Life Ventures team in analyzing, recommending, and managing strategically relevant venture capital investment opportunities.  Primary responsibilities include sourcing of high-quality deal flow, conducting due diligence, preparing financial models, analysis, and investment memorandums in support of recommendations, and supporting deal execution.  This position will also contribute to the team’s efforts around supporting portfolio companies post investment, monitoring and reporting on investment performance, and other fund operational duties (i.e. reporting, communications, and other portfolio management duties).

  • Deal sourcing: Build and maintain relationships with members of the startup and venture capital ecosystem to support high-quality deal flow
  • Due diligence and investment execution:  Coordinate all facets of the investment due diligence process including:  technology and product assessment, evaluation of market opportunity and competitive landscape, detailed financial modeling, valuation assessment, and preparation of investment recommendation materials.  Contribute to deal execution, including engaging with legal counsel and other internal stakeholders to review legal documentation and execute on approved transactions. 
  • Portfolio management and operational support of program:  Monitor the investment performance,  contribute to team’s support of portfolio companies, and assist with other operational activities of program (i.e. preparation of internal reporting, utilization of  CRM and cap table management platforms, support of audit and valuation procedures, etc.)
  • Market research and analysis: Conduct market research and stay apprised of emerging trends impacting the fintech/insurtech landscape and systematically share insights internally to help inform Allianz Life business stakeholders. 

 

What you bring:

Required:

  • 2-3 years of experience in venture capital, corporate venture capital, investment banking, corporate development, management consulting, or as a startup operator
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or equivalent
  • Deal making experience and/or deep understanding of early stage investing process with ability to work towards independently leading efforts around new and subsequent transactions
  • Strong financial modeling skillset and excellent analytical and written/verbal communication skills

 

Preferred:

  • Investing, operating, or technical experience in financial services industry
  • Advanced degree – CFA or MBA
