Reporting to the Head of Business Development Retail Wholesale Italy, the Business Developer is responsible for continuing to build Allianz Global Investors' book of business of public and private market strategies with fund buyers and fund sellers in Italy.


Key Responsibilities:

  • In close co-operation with the Head of Business Development Retail Wholesale Italy, implement the sales strategy and work as an integral part of the Italian sales team
  • Grow the business with existing and new clients in Italy by selling a broad range of our products and services
  • Build strong internal networks with key stakeholders, i.e., senior managers, product specialists, portfolio managers and sales support
  • Act as a conduit into investments for clients, focusing on matching clients’ investment needs to suitable proposition and product sets
  • Plan and prioritize client visits and represent the company in external meetings with clients and prospective clients
  • Strengthen the overall AllianzGI brand in Italy and leverage good practice from other European countries
  • Ensure that information about current market trends, competitors’ strategies and developments are kept updated
  • Take responsibility for analyzing your clients’ needs and coordinating existing services and offerings by integrating sector-specific know-how in sales activities and product development
  • Work on strategies to acquire profitable new investment business, develop plans and proposals to improve return on assets and give advice as to how our products should be positioned and presented to clients in the Italian market


Key Requirements/Skills/Experience:

  • A certain degree in Retail business or related field of study (networks of financial advisors and private bankers)
  • Ideally 3 - 5 years of work experience in a wholesale business development environment
  • Known to work in a remote management set-up and an international working environment
  • Shown ability to sell and have the creativity to identify business opportunities, initiate contact and close new business
  • Profound knowledge of market dynamics for the retail and wholesale channels and have a wide network of established relationships with key decision makers for fund distributors in Italy
  • Detailed understanding of investment markets and associated products across the broad spectrum of investment strategies ranging from public to private markets available to retail and wholesale clients in Italy
  • A deep knowledge of the Wholesale business, i.e., fund managers, fund selection and advisory teams, fund pickers at private banks and insurance companies for unit linked wrappers, discretionary portfolio managers for HNWIs or affluent individuals
  • Proficiency in using MS-Office suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Word) and ideally experienced with using CRM software (Salesforce)
  • Fluency in English and Italian is required, further languages are beneficial
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Enjoy building positive working relationships with clients and colleagues, being entrepreneurial, collaborative, reliable, team-oriented and disciplined
