Underwriters are the first point of contact for all customers of the Engineering, Construction and Power Division. To work as part of this successful and dynamic branch, you will be customer focussed and team oriented in order to deliver an excellent customer journey.

 

Your main role is to meet all business targets in relation to Inspection products for the Northern region. The servicing of Broker and Client accounts within your own panel and ensuring you underwrite within defined parameters in a consistent and profitable manner.

Job duties

On a daily basis, you'll ensure customer satisfaction by building rapport and provide excellent service to external and internal customers and in the long term, ensure customer new business growth and retention you will :-

  • Build strong relationships with brokers, negotiating effectively, and providing excellent customer service at all times
  • Handle general customers' queries via the telephone and in writing within agreed service standards.
  • Underwrite new business enquiries received by brokers, actively engage in prospecting activities to secure new business growth.
  • Underwrite existing business and mid-term adjustments including analysis and compilation of data for referral.
  • Negotiate within authority and referring where appropriate to maximise customer growth including persuading, influencing and convincing customers of the benefits of an opposed course of action.
  • Anticipate likely objections and build effective responses
  • Work as part of a close-knit team to offer renewal terms before deadlines
  • Support the wider teams by being proactive, enthusiastic and by challenging yourself to go out of your comfort zone.
  • Provide suggestions to continuously improve the business in an ever-changing environment
