Job purpose

Planning and Performance Management (PPM) as part of the Finance function at Allianz Direct provides key stakeholders with appropriate information, analyses and recommendations to steer the company on a value-based approach.

We are looking for an enthusiastic colleague who is committed to data and insurance as we do, with a “nothing-is-impossible” mindset. As a Data Scientist (m/f/d) you will work in a highly motivated team where you get the opportunity to innovatively shape the topic of Advanced Analytics and AI together with us from the beginning.

You will have the opportunity to shape different data science products: From translating business problems into analytical ones, to designing and implementing the entire data pipeline, including data engineering, exploration, training and validating machine learning models, and prototyping direct and indirect action and interactive insights.

Key responsibilities

  • Work in a small, international, agile team as a Data Scientist (m/f/d) for the data domain Finance for Allianz Direct.
  • With the goal of improving financial performance, conceive and develop innovative end-to-end solutions for the collection, modeling, analysis and visualization of data.
  • Create machine learning models and support in the implementation of these models in existing processes by using state-of the-art methods.
  • Identify opportunities for innovation through analytics in the business of Allianz Direct and evaluate potential, scope projects, and define deliverables.
  • Investigate new data technologies and contribute to the continual development of our Data Mesh architecture.
  • Work in close collaboration with the central data team, other data analysts, data scientists, engineers, product and process teams to drive analytics topics and enable data-supported decision making.

 

Required qualifications and experience

  • Academic degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Physics, or a related field.
  • Ideally 2 years of relevant professional experience in the field of Data Science.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills and willingness to excel as a team and individually.
  • Profound experience in data analysis with high fluency in SQL, Python and experience in Cloud Computing (e.g. Azure).
  • Experience in applying modern machine learning algorithms (supervised and unsupervised, such as gradient boosting and deep learning) in a business context.
  • Expertise in data visualization with Business Intelligence tools such as Tableau, SAP Analytics Cloud or Power BI.
  • Experience with distributed computing is a plus (e.g., Spark, Hadoop, Databricks etc.).
  • Ability to communicate complex quantitative analysis in a clear and precise manner to audiences from different departments and at different levels.
  • Fluent in Business English, German is a plus, additional languages are nice to have.
  • Strong sense of cooperation and ability to work toward team success and willingness to challenge oneself and counterparties to strive for continuous improvement
