Entry Role – Assistant Underwriter

 

About the Role

An exciting opportunity to join an Underwriting team at AGCS and kick-start your career in Insurance The role is non-rotational and will span 2 year. You will need to have demonstrated your motivation and ability to operate independently through either previous work experience, volunteering or higher education. Your development will be supported with a L4 Insurance Professional apprenticeship, which includes the Diploma in Insurance from the CII. Your role will have clear responsibility and will see you working alongside a team of experts. You’ll have networking opportunities across the Allianz group and the London insurance market.  

This role is to be responsible for delivering a high quality client service within Underwriting. To ensure that new and renewal business are processed to agreed service standards. This role is outcome-driven, and one which combines technical skills, account management, commercial and relationship management skills – gaining experience in fast paced, technology enriched environment. This role will play a key part in the Underwriting team in London where you will work with colleagues and clients from across the globe.

Key Responsibilities

  • Proactively prepares relevant underwriting information including client / market research and claims data
  • Assists in pricing of risks, using global tools as appropriate
  • Proactively establishes and maintains policy file (whether electronic or paper) for each risk and transaction handled
  • Ensures accurate policy documentation issued to broker (where AGCS responsibility to do so) or broker has issued documentation (where broker responsibility)
  • Proactively works with other functions (e.g. operations, credit control) to resolve outstanding accounts queries
  • Proactively develops relationships with internal functional areas involved in the Underwriting process
  • Assist UWR teams within the planning cycle

There is a mandatory requirement for at least 20% off-the-job training in your apprenticeship. This principle underpins a quality apprenticeship. You will have access to our virtual learning platform, scheduled learning offerings and your own mentor to support your development and meet the 20% off-the-job requirement.

 

Key Requirements/Skills/Experience

  • Interested in a career in Insurance
  • Able to clearly and effectively express ideas and messages, verbally and in writing
  • Methodical approach and an eye for detail
  • Proficient at Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
  • Flexible attitude and a strong team player
  • Ability and confidence to work on own initiative and to multi-task.

Location

Our office is based in London (60 Gracechurch Street). We currently have a 60:40 work model: 3 days in office, 2 days at home.

 

Salary & Benefits

28k + 10% on-target annual bonus, including a variety of flexible benefits including pension, GymFlex, Cycle Scheme and SpreeFlex
