Based in London as part of the Energy and Construction Underwriting team and reporting to the Regional Head of Energy & Construction, you will be responsible for supporting the underwriting of profitable new and renewal business to meet targets regionally, including global elements. Your responsibilities will also include driving data analytics adoption within the team, supporting pricing and exposure analyses, reviewing terms & conditions and supporting the acquisition of new business and retaining existing business.

 

Responsibilities

In this role you will:

  • Support the team of underwriters in their tasks to underwrite and evaluate Energy & Construction exposures contributing to the profitable growth of the book, while developing underwriting knowledge and market profile
  • Support the Regional Head of Energy & Construction with analytics, reporting and administrative tasks
  • Handle the publication and dissemination of data and reports on a weekly and monthly basis
  • Ensure improvements in communication channels and quality of data
  • Analyse the data and escalate any issues as appropriate
  • Increase automation in reporting and tracking systems
  • Ad-hoc tasks to support strategic analysis and decisions
  • Interact with efficiency with all teams involved in the wider Underwriting process, including Distribution, Risk Consulting, Claims, and Operations etc.
  • Work closely with all team members in Energy & Construction, providing assistance, reports, data analytics and technical support as needed

 

To be successful in the role:

You will ….

  • Be capable of leveraging data and analytics to make business more efficient and effective
  • Have previous experience in a financial services context, ideally in Corporate & Specialty Insurance
  • Have a high degree of expertise with Microsoft Excel and VBA
  • Have a pro-active and positive attitude to team work, able to assist others and also take on your own responsibilities
  • Be keen to develop your technical Underwriting skills

 

Ideally you will also …

  • be CII qualified or equivalent or working towards it
