Job Purpose/Role

Based in London and reporting to the Head of UK Property, Energy & Construction Claims, you will work on Energy & Construction claims, with a particular focus on Inherent Defects Insurance (IDI). You will drive excellence in the claims handling service provided to brokers, clients and internal customers.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Resolve high exposure, complex Energy & Construction claims, ensuring cost effective, service-oriented solutions
  • Actively evaluate and address coverage issues and determine appropriate reserving levels
  • Investigate multi-faceted, high exposure domestic and international claims that involve complex issues and/or litigation
  • Provide external counsel by performing coverage analysis and offering resolution strategies, including development and implementation of defence strategies on litigated claims
  • Support establishment of claims management procedures on new business accounts in association with clients, brokers and loss adjusters
  • Support development of the claims strategy to ensure profitable growth and a strong market position
  • Actively leading cross-department projects to improve efficiency and the claims offer internally

 

Key Requirements/Skills/Experience

 

  • You have around 5 years‘ professional experience dealing with Energy and Construction claims, experience in IDI is preferred but not critical.
  • You have an understanding of legal processes and procedures, litigation management, litigation avoidance techniques (eg. mediation)
  • Knowledge of reserving principles and practices; robust understanding of coinsurance, reinsurance
  • You are capable of leveraging data in order to provide meaningful analytics to internal stakeholders
  • You are a collaborative and positive team player, capable of driving new initiatives
  • With excellent communication skills, you create and maintain solid relationships at every level within the organisation
