Job Purpose/Role 


Are you interested in joining our adventure by becoming our new Underwriter?
Reporting to the Region Head of Entertainment Europe / ILA you will work closely with clients and brokers to develop personalized solutions as well as developing new relationships. In this role you will be responsible for underwriting profitable new and renewal business to meet Line of Business targets regionally including global elements. Your responsibilities also include negotiating participation, pricing and terms & conditions, acquiring new business and retaining existing business.




In this role you will…


•    Underwrite new and renewal accounts to meet top and bottom-line targets
•    Negotiate participation, pricing and terms and conditions with brokers
•    Proactively support acquisition of new business and retention of existing business (including client and broker negotiations where necessary)
•    Develop and maintain strong relationships with key brokers and clients and other relevant stakeholders (e.g. risk managers)
•    Ensure accurate policy documentation issued to broker (where AGCS responsibility to do so) or broker has issued documentation (where broker responsibility)
•    Ensure file is established (whether electronic or paper) and maintained for each risk and transaction handled
•    Proactively liaise with MMC on market management initiatives
•    Positively represent AGCS externally to the market
•    Proactively drive involvement of functional areas in Underwriting process, including e.g. MMC, ARC, Claims, Operations
•    Train, develop and coach less experienced staff (including Junior Underwriters, Operations and Credit Control)


To be successful in the role:


You will have….


•    Preferably a degree in Economics, Law, or other appropriate discipline
•    Proven track record in Underwriting profitable business in LoB. Understanding of LoB products and portfolio as well as professional insurance qualification (e.g. CII)
•    Demonstrable, established relationships with brokers at peer group level
•    Good understanding of regional / local LoB insurance markets and competitor landscape
•    Understanding of legal and regulatory framework
•    The ability to assess risk inherent exposures and natural hazards relevant to LoB
•    Proven experience in analyzing current performance against benchmarks applying how the market operates and functions, the business needs and customer needs
•    The capability to design, develop and implement consistent, robust wordings
•    A robust understanding of policy administration life cycle, information collection, policy issuance, premium bookings, credit control, cancellation
•    The Ability to persuade and motivate others to act, without executive authority
•    Strong communication and analytical skills
•    Confidence to work in a complex and global matrix organization
•    Mother tongue German, fluent in English
