We are looking for a Complex Claims Handler Marine (m/f/d), based in Hamburg.

 

Your Team 
Our team is handling a variety of complex marine claims in the segments Cargo and Hull and we are looking for a strong team-player to complete our group. We are committed to fulfil our promise of performance in the event of a claim in a qualified, effective and fair manner vis-à-vis the customer. 

 

The Impact You Will Have 
The job holder needs to proactively investigate, negotiate and resolve high exposure marine claims, involving complex issues and/or litigation processes. Furthermore this person needs to ensure that claims are handled within authority limits, and in line with AGCS claims standards procedures and guidelines.  It is expected that this person develops and maintains strong relationships with brokers and clients in order to achieve economical results and to provide a high quality service.

 

Some of your specific responsibilities could include

  • Investigate high exposure domestic and international marine claims that involve complex issues and/or litigation - requires qualified legal analysis
  • Input and maintain accurate claims records for the marine line of business (Cargo and Hull incl. sub-lines)
  • Effectively report and present complex and contentious loss and claims information internally and externally
  • Drive effective subrogation processes and act as manager for high profile subrogation matters
  • Proactively support acquisition of new business and retention of existing business  (including client and broker negotiations where necessary)
  • Refer cases outside of authority level, preparing referral documentation and materials as appropriate


What You’ll Bring to the Role

  • Strong Marine Hull background, e.g. fully qualified lawyer, insurance or nautical / technical experience
  • Specialized understanding of the marine products and portfolio with technical specialist knowledge is a must 
  • Ability to work in an international environment and outstanding inter-cultural skills 
  • Recognized relationship building with brokers, clients and other relevant stakeholders 
  • Excellent understanding of legal and regulatory framework
  • Fluent German and English skills are a must
