Role Information

The role is within Allianz Portfolio Underwriting,  Motor Team, reporting to the Portfolio Manager-  Motor and is based in Allianz House, Elmpark, Merrion Road, Dublin 4.


Job Purpose/Role

The purpose of the role is to ensure that Motor business is managed effectively at portfolio level to support growth whilst protecting profitability. The successful applicant will be involved in developing, communicating, maintaining and overseeing underwriting policy and procedures. They will also be required to undertake an internal management and co-ordination role within these areas.


Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be involved in the following key areas:


  • Develop, communicate and maintain underwriting policy and procedures
  • Understand and ensure adherence to regulatory requirements such as the Consumer Protection and Data Protection codes
  • Monitor portfolio performance and in collaboration with Pricing, Customer and Market Management, develop and implement solutions that will improve results
  • Provide statistical analysis to support profitable underwriting
  • Make recommendations to management on changes required to improve portfolio
  • Serve as an escalation point for technical referrals from all areas of the business
  • Monitor adherence to underwriting procedures and manage breaches where they arise
  • Propose and prepare high quality accurate responses to complaints
  • Ensure that complaints are recorded and addressed in line with procedures
  • Prepare monthly reports on all aspects of portfolio performance


Key Requirements, Skills and Experience


Essential Qualifications/Experience:

  • CIP, ACII or FCII qualified
  • A minimum of 18 months General Insurance experience


Desirable Experience/Qualifications:

  • A relevant third level or professional qualification
  • Experience of Motor Insurance
  • Experience of having served as an escalation point in respect of technical queries
  • Experience in communication to, and leadership of, people or teams
  • Experience in dealing with customers and formulating high quality written responses
  • Experience of having been part of a project team in implementing business initiatives
  • Intermediate proficiency in MS Excel OR with SQL, VBA or Matlab

  • The selection process may involve a General Intelligence Assessment or other assessment.



*This role is subject to Minimum Competency Code (“MCC”) as provided for by the Central Bank of Ireland.   A recognised insurance qualification may be required for this position. This role is also subject to the Fitness & Probity Regime as provided for by the Central Bank of Ireland.
