Job Overview

The Medical Services Supervisor is responsible for day to day management of a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals providing 24/7 support to our international health customers accessing value based healthcare across the globe.

Multinational corporations with employees working in remote environments, for example within the mining, construction or oil and gas or for IGO`s who often face challenging conditions when medical assistance is needed. At Allianz Care, we provide medical assistance globally and have growing needs due to recent client wins.



Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:

Medical Services

  • To support and coordinate the effective placement of Treatment Guarantees to providers 24/7 across the globe, to ensure our customers have access to value based healthcare in a timely manner.

  • To support and deliver strong clinical leadership and workforce planning in collaboration with global supervisor support group needs. 

  • Ensure strong cost containment for the department aiming to reduce treatment variations and avoidance medical costs. 

  • To act as a point of contact for clinical queries, claims adjudication, customer issue resolution and escalations, ensuring prompt and appropriate resolution for the customer. 

  • To provide coaching and on the job training to all team members to the standards required to perform the function of a Medical Advisor. 

  • Continuous improvement of the Medical team processes, and ensuring best practice processes are utilized within the Medical team.

  • Effective management of the company’s Medical Services function and team ensuring appropriate liaison with helpline teams, claims function and the client services function as well as with external partner relationships.

  • Ensuring all Medical team processes are aligned with the customer at the heart of our work and all other relevant business functions.

  • Support delivery of strong case management for complex and high cost cases including Fraud.  Developing guidelines and protocols for the same.

  • To assist in resolving value based negotiations where cost of treatment and/or quality of treatment provision is under review between Allianz Worldwide Care and a provider, physician or TPA.


  • To ensure all existing operating service standards are consistently met 24/7 and to devise strategies to improve these in line with transformation objectives. 

  • To assist in the management of the Medical Services team in accordance with Allianz Worldwide Care’s people management policies

  • To develop and continually refine objective mechanisms to measure the productivity of team members against performance targets and to devise and implement strategies to engage and improve individual team  and members productivity and cost avoidance.

  • To develop and implement strategies to continually enhance a strong customer focused culture within the Department, liaising with other relevant parts of the business as necessary;

  • To identify training requirements and, in co-operation with other relevant parts of the business, to devise and implement strategies to address these needs;

  • To develop and maintain good working relationships with all departments and support them according to their needs;

  • The continual monitoring and review of processes and procedures, including systems processes, and the introduction of necessary process enhancements. Liaison with IT Department in particular is required here.

To be successful in this position you will need to have the following skills/ experience:

  • Clinical background, Nurse, Doctor/Pharmacy or allied health professional
  • 5 years clinical experience in hospital / community practice.  
  • Experience in the Health Insurance Industry is desirable  
  • Hold a third level degree and additional management or  professional qualification
  • Completion of or progression towards the Diploma in Private Medical Insurance desirable
  • Strong Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word)
  • Management of people across remote and flexible locations 
  • Project management or workforce capacity planning background would be advantageous 
  • Fluency in a second language also would be advantageous.

  • Ability to work effectively within a global team environment where colleagues are working remotely 24/7. 
  • Strong boundaries in managing sensitive relationships whilst advocating for customers and different and competing stakeholders

  • Ability to prioritise own and team workloads whilst working remotely
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills (report writing & presentation skills)
