Job Description

As a member of the Finance Programs & Projects team, this role participates in Finance-specific as well as Company-driven projects. In addition, the person in this role will also support the Finance Operations and Accounting teams with technical query resolution and process improvement initiatives. This role is involved in co-ordinating, supporting and delivering technical projects impacting the teams within Accounting & Reporting. The person in the role participates in: requirements gathering, solution design, conducting user acceptance testing, and implementing new processes for handover to the BAU (Business As Usual) teams

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Technical System Projects:
    -    Actively participate in projects impacting on Finance processes in the insurance system (OPUS) and related systems
    -    When assigned, take ownership of BAU issues that require technical system changes to be implemented (where testing is needed)
    -    For both large system projects and BAU technical changes, support throughout all project phases: requirements gathering; User Story and Acceptance Criteria review, solution design support, UAT (user acceptance testing), implementation into the

  • BAU team’s processes, post implementation support;
    -    Participate in detailed user acceptance testing, from test case design through to output review and sign off, to ensure all requirements are implemented as specified and meet the business process needs
    -    Collaborate with non-finance teams to deliver an efficient testing cycle
    -    Where required, develop manual solutions to support new processes or process changes in conjunction with the BAU teams (where system automation isn’t feasible)
    -    Support business readiness activity including procedure documentation, user training and post go-live support prior to hand off to BAU (Business As Usual)

  • New Business Enablement Projects:
    -    Support the New Business projects team with the onboarding of new arrangements (frontings, partnership, TPA etc) or new large clients
    -    Actively participate in detailed process reviews to understand the potential impacts and changes to existing processes required to successfully implement the new opportunity
    -    Work with the BAU teams and the New Business projects team to understand where existing processes can be maintained, or where new processes or process changes are required
    -    Collaborate with other business departments to develop end to end processes
    -    Support with the identification of technical requirements (for system changes) or new manual processes
    -    Participate in User Story review, UAT, implementation of technical changes
    -    Support with implementation of manual solutions into BAU teams where required

  • Participate in other finance projects and in Finance Programs & Projects team activities as required
    -    Take ownership for the Accounting & Reporting GIAM data sets and data role access approvals and monitoring
    -    Participate in Simplicity process improvement projects. This includes identification and implementation of small changes, macros, and conducting process review workshops, process mapping and documentation, and process redesign were relevant 
    -    Support with day-to-day finance system maintenance; as well as triage and troubleshooting of issues on Finance Tools & Systems
    -    Act as back-up for the Projects team mailbox ensuring finance user issues are addressed in a timely manner
    -    Support other ad-hoc projects where necessary
    -    Actively participate in team communications and engagement initiatives

 

Requirements

  • 2-5 years experience in a Finance or Operations environment
  • Proven project experience within that environment: proven experience participating in at least one large scale system project or experience with several process improvement initiatives
  • User Acceptance Testing, IT testing or system testing experience a distinct advantage
  • Demonstrable experience identifying and implementing solutions for complex queries
  • Educated to Degree Level; Business/Finance/Accountancy related
  • Highly numerate and have experience in complex reconciliation work with strong attention to detail.
  • Customer and client centric, confident and personable
  • Demonstrable knowledge of the following tools & languages:
    -    MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Word, MS Visio
  • Excellent collaboration & communication skills
  • Personal Effectiveness – highly motivated, proactive, self starter, responsible and highly committed, high attention to detail and accuracy
  • Solution focused, driving continue progress on initiative and projects
