The Opportunity

As part of the Healthcare Team within the Corporate Risks Team you will join a group of technical experts who underwrite Healthcare business across the wide range of facilities providing healthcare services in Ireland.  

 

We are seeking an experienced underwriter to both underwrite and lead broker and client engagements with speciality healthcare customers.   Working proactively with Broker partners and with the support of the Allianz Customer Relationship team you will be responsible for the proactive management of a portfolio of large and specialised renewals and new business Healthcare opportunities that are aligned to our risk appetite.  Also you will proactively collaborate with internal stakeholders in Customer (Sales), Pricing and Portfolio Management and deliver against agreed GWP targets to support our overall growth strategy.  Ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction to our brokers and clients and technical expertise through superior underwriting is a principle objective of this role.

 

 

Role Responsibilities:

  • Underwrite specialised and large Healthcare renewals and new business opportunities, including portfolios, to achieve GWP targets and profitability targets
  • Lead engagements with brokers and their key clients with the support and collaboration of the Allianz Customer Relationship team to deliver on Allianz Healthcare targets
  • Oversee the end to end customer outcome of these large and specialised renewals and new business submissions aligned to target KPI’s
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships within the team, other areas of the business and external stakeholders and support their team colleagues in the underwriting of Healthcare business 
  • Balance commercial needs of our clients with technical requirements to deliver on renewal retention and new business conversion
  • Engage with internal stakeholders in Customer, Pricing and Portfolio management to negotiate terms  and conduct detailed risk assessment and acceptance within existing Delegated Underwriting Authority (DUA) framework agreements
  • Share knowledge and technical expertise with colleagues, contribute to personal and team technical development
  • Identify and implement improvements in process, proposition or service to best serve our customer base
  • Maintain and develop strong interpersonal and negotiation skills to both lead and support key client and broker engagements

 

Essential Experience

  • A minimum 5 years’ experience in writing commercial liability and property insurance
  • ACII or well progressed towards this or equivalent qualification from a base level of CIP
  • Experience in broker & client engagement balancing business development with technical underwriting

 

Desirable Experience

  • Specialist experience in underwriting healthcare liability and property business & medical malpractice
  • Proven track record in terms of meeting challenging underwriting & commercial targets
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, MS Word and Salesforce
