Allianz Technology Ireland, based in Park West, Dublin 12 & Elmpark, Merrion Road in Dublin 4 and services 4 customers and circa 2, 000 users in Dublin, Belfast and Donegal as well as other locations and approximately 5000 external broker and partner customers.

Allianz is looking for a talented and motivated Cloud DevOps Engineer to join our Cloud Operations Team. The role’s
primary focus is to support Allianz’s AWS infrastructure, Kubernetes platform, and CI/CD pipeline. There will also be
a requirement to support legacy J2EE applications. This role will work closely with application teams within Allianz
to enable adoption of the Cloud Platform.
This role is critical to the success of Allianz and requires both depth and breadth in many technologies leveraged in
a public cloud environment. This is a great career opportunity for a highly motivated individual who wants to extend

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure the future maintainability of the systems as well as consideration of the technical & functional environment in the overall context of the development and maintenance of software

  • Design, develop, test, debug, document and implement software or application components of third-party software and of operating system-related software

  • Work collaboratively with application teams by providing technical guidance and consultation to satisfy infrastructure requirements, assist with CI/CD release process, and troubleshoot code and deployment issues

  • Maintain AWS platform and Kubernetes cluster health across all environments by following best-practices  through implementation of monitoring, maintenance, and administration

  • Creating, maintaining, and creating and improving procedures and runbooks through cross team collaboration.

  • Update existing guidance on git branching and tagging strategies.

  • Support application releases during Ireland evening periods.

  • Investigate and introduce appropriate configuration management tools.

  • Lead the adoption and administration of distributed systems using configuration management tools.

  • Develop and support DevOps tools through automation using modern scripting languages such as Python.

  • Collaborate with Solution Architects, Development Managers, and Software Engineering teams to deliver holistic solutions for application deployment and platform adoption

Key Requirements/Skills/Experience

  • 3+ years experience in supporting a high-availability AWS production environment

  • 5+ years experience UNIX/Linux System Administration

  • 2+ years experience with containers, container orchestration, and deployment tools, such as Kubernetes and Docker, CKA certification is a plus

  • 2+ years experience with continuous integration and deployment tools, such as Jenkins and preferably CJE certification.

  • In depth understanding of AWS Services, networking, and security technologies

  • Ability to carry out tasks independently in non-standardized (ever-changing) work situations

  • Problem solving skills based on practice and precedent as well as ability to analyze factual information
