Job Purpose

You are responsible for the setup, roll out, and implementation of Underwriting technical and complementary skill trainings for the AGCS/Allianz Group Underwriters worldwide, in alignment with the Corporate and Specialty LoBs, including ARC, in order to guarantee the company goals and priorities are achieved.

 

You will cooperate with the Heads of the other Allianz Group Academies in order to define a common Qualification/Accreditation system so that Underwriters from all OEs/lines can achieve a group-wide acknowledgment.   In addition, you will act as a deputy for the Head of Underwriting Academy.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Define strategic orientation of the Underwriting Academy, the required roles and responsibilities and set up the processes to follow the strategy.
  • Manage the Training Needs Analysis, defining a curriculum in collaboration with the team to meet the strategic learning needs of the business.
  • Contribute to the Strategic Capabilities Building Initiative to ensure a strategic upskilling of our Underwriters.
  • Act as Learning Consultant for our Lines of Business and support them with the conception, creation and delivery of trainings.
  • Steer the Governance activities of the team (e.g., Works Council related topics, IDD Regulations, etc.).
  • Align and collaborate with other Functional Academies and stakeholders.
  • Review and Develop the AGCS Underwriting Academy Qualification System and contribute to the definition of the equivalence amongst the different Allianz Underwriting Academies Accreditation/Qualification systems.
  • Create development path and future skill-set/capabilities for Underwriters.
  • Drive digital and cultural transformation within underwriting in collaboration with other units and internal/external stakeholders and vendors (e.g., HR, external universities, trainers, etc.).
  • Setup, roll out, and implement underwriting technical and complementary skill trainings for the AGCS/Allianz Group Underwriters worldwide, in alignment with the Corporate and Specialty LoBs needs, in order to guarantee the company goals and priorities are achieved.
  • Utilize new learning methodologies (e.g., blended learning, e-learning, video, LinkedIn, etc.).
  • Establish “transformation” modules within the business (e.g., cross-mentoring).
  • Drive change projects and initiatives (process, tools improvement/creation) and define necessary change process for own area.

 

Key Requirements/Skills/Experience

  • You have at least 5 years’ of experience working in the insurance industry (underwriting experience preferred);
  • Experience working in a global and  matrix organization;
  • Experience working within the Allianz structure, particularly AGCS is beneficial;
  • Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred) in Insurance, Instructional Design, Marketing, HR Development, Business Administration or related field;
  • Expert understanding of Learning methods and an understanding of new trends;
  • Express ideas and messages clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing, in English and German;
  • Proven experience in project management, with an ability to develop detailed process steps and project plans that will be implemented globally;
  • Demonstrable, established relationships with underwriters at peer group level;
  • Ability to build and foster relationships, communicating with people at various levels of the organization;
  • Ability to analyze current performance against benchmarks applying how the market operates and functions, the business and customer needs;
  • Analyze information from various sources effectively, translating complex data into appropriate conclusions; and
  • Ability to negotiate, often in difficult situations, and steer discussions to a desired outcome.
